Ronald Reagan park has potential for a great meet up site. The picnic area has a couple bridge cross points, a covered (and possibly night time lit...though, all the lights were on when I took the photos) patio, ample and close by parking, wide open, grassy fields, near by play area, BBQ's, and more.
I made a slide show with full view images and more that isn't in this compilation.

It does have some potential; in a way, it seems almost like the lay out that they have for the Fur Now Meet Up out Kearny Mesa Park in San Diego. I only mention that because I've seen video of the Park they hold their Meet Up at around the end of the Month; I haven't had the chance to really go to Kearny Mesa Park itself, and as for the Ronald Reagan park show in photos here is a bit of a commute but as the saying goes, "Have wheels, will travel." As there is always the option of carpooling w/others
Not really. Balto chose that spot for it's open, grassy area under a large tree, complete with a table, BBQ...and distance away from active zones. It was set at the end of a drive with just enough parking. People might see us from afar and ponder. Yet, feel that they weren't invited.
Here in RR park, the picnic zone is somewhat set aside from most of the sports fields and the activity center. And, it's tons better then the first sports park, which seemed to be scrunching all the fields into a minimum amount of property, almost lacking in benches and concentrating all activity to every last square inch.
I have high hopes for this meet to turn into something big, as I know of three very key spots that would make great meet up zones...
1) If we could get a hiking off shoot, there is the very expansive walking trails out in the foothills of Wildomar/Murrietta.
2) Perhaps, a once-a-year sleep over could be possible, just a few miles east of Temecula at a campground that sports a waterpark, mini golf, tons of camp spaces, a mini mart and more.
3) Although it's not _in_ the wine country area, I've always felt that the Live Oak Park would make an excellent meet up spot. For one, it's 98% shaded over being all grass. For another, it has tons of space with activities, a walk path, a _true_ BBQ grill/stove/skillet, a campfire ring W/ring style seating, an actual stage with rentable electricity, near by fast food, a couple sporting areas and tons more. And, only on a select few days is the park truly busy.
4) It's all near where I live...over SD/Garden Grove.
