Very impressive....love the inking detail, the sword is a bit...large though

It's a No-Dachi. In essence, it's actually supposed to be a little bit longer. The blade is 5ft long, while the handle is supposed to reach up to 2 1/2ft long.

It's not your standard katana by any means. ^^;

Alike the Naginata, back during the warring era in feudal japan, it's original purpose was to strike down samurai and infantry riding on horses by means of slicing off all four of the horses' legs.

...not the most humane way, but I suppose it did get the job done.

Then again... is was /supposed/ to be humame?

...well, there were traps and tripwires that would trip the horses, ending up with the rider being skewered by a sword and the horse running free.

..though in the heat of battle, one simply cannot worry about such things, I suppose. :shrug:
