Great story.. I remeber watching Star Trek the first time around (Same with Dr Who)
This certainly is a new take on the Kobayashi Maru one one I can certainly admire. I have always felt that Kirk was too much of a Shhot Em Up type and the constant allusion to an insolvable problem.

I always thought Picard had far more class than Kirk. He's far, far less of a womanizer (even though he had the bad luck to fall for a member of his own crew), and has hobbies and interests (like archaeology) outside his duties to Starfleet.
I came up with the idea after seeing the New Trek; I thought New Kirk's method was about as ham-handed as it was possible to get. Old Kirk could at least manage some degree of subtlety on occasion. I thought about how someone who knew how Klingons think would approach the problem, and came up with this.
