So, um, yeah, Merlin's OC Peony as a character from Tron, for a Covert Courtesy Commutation over on the Clockwork Cansion… I mean, Mansion.
The original germ of this idea was seeing that Peony's colorful markings would probably make for good Tron lines. For those of you who have no idea what a Tron line is, see here for all you need to know on the subject. I'm a recent Tron fan (I feel the sequel is stronger, but both have their good and bad points), so it's not as crazy of a thought as it might at first sound. I decided to go for a hybridization of the two movie's styles, because I'm kind of a fan of both: I like the complicated circuit board styling of the original, and I like the armor-styled simplicity of the sequel. Combine them together, and apparently you get a plug suit from Neon Genesis Evangelion… yeah, that was unanticipated. My original idea of drawing the lines out and then filling the armor in didn't quite work, so you get this raised tron line effect on a skintight suit.
Okay, a few notes about this. First, this is - in my mind - the best humanoid figure I've ever drawn. The proportions are fairly close to normal, there's a few hints of depth even though I did no shading, the breasts are probably the best I'd ever drawn (yes, I feel proud of this) and overall it's not bad. Of course, as an over-analyzing artist there are a few things that bug me. She feels a bit too tall and skinny, but that could just be me. Her feet are once again not quite right, and her hands are WAY too small for her body. On a similar note, the baton and identity disk are just… there. She's not holding them right, and they look kind of… not good. :\ I really wish I could figure out how to do armor that looks decent: the only armor here are her heels and shoulders, and a hint for her chest. And then we go into minor details and it feels like nitpicking.
But, besides all of that, I'm kind of proud of this. And more or less satisfied. It's also probably a good thing that my copy of PhotoShop isn't working, because this would be a bad image to try and ink and color with: way too complicated for someone of my skillset. Anyway, any tips or pointers would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
PS: As a side note, were I to do this again, I'd sneak the random patches of circuit board patterns into the tron lines, so you'd get a combination of the original scattered lines and the sequel's simplistic lines. Ah well, this doesn't look too bad.
