Parody of a Maximum PC magazine cover, done way back in 1999. For many years, the only copy of this pic was on my main (woefully outdated) homepage, a squashed-down GIF file that pre-dated my present habit of working large and posting small. Recently I found the original lineart, and being that hot weather is on the way (or already here, depending on where you live), I thought this pic would make an ideal candidate for a full revamp. What might Roland be thinking here? I dunno, maybe something like "Sweat and Suffer, beeyotches".
Technical:This pic got the full digital do-over in Micrografx Picture Publisher. Now, I still do not know jack about PhotoShop, but I did re-read "New and Improved Smut-drawing Techniques" by the infamous  evilartnazi, and made a sincere (meaning hard-headed) attempt to port some of the concepts discussed within to my creaky old art app. That's right--I employed for the first time, the concepts of Multiply and Screen (Holy Shiznit, Batman!) in most of the shading of this image, especially on the humongous air conditioner.
The rest of the work involved extensive pixel-level line cleanup (I still don't know if this has an effect on the finished pic since I shrink them to 25% size for posting), fixing Roland's eyes, ears nose and hand, as well as straightening out the text and changing the subtitle of the main "feature".
The original version of this pic is here on my site. Flip back and forth to see the differences. You think the app I use now is old, that version was done with ArcSoft PhotoStudio 1.0, a Windows 3.1 program. (O_o)
