A gift for my most excellent chiropractor, who fixed my wrists so I could draw without all the hurting.

11x14" pencil on bristol

If anyone's interested in prints, send me a note or e-mail. If you want them by Anthrocon 07, let me know ASAP since I'll have to bust my butt to get them printed in time!

chiropractors are basically massage therapists right?

Very nice shading there :)

  Thanks!

They do massaging but they also pull your bones around and make things crack (in a good way). They make you feel less refreshed, but more... aligned, than a masseuse.

(Fun facts!) Posted: 4 years ago

There are a few modalities within the massage field that are focused on postural alignment as well. The main difference is that your chiropractor will be concerned with bones, where a massage therapist will work with your soft tissues. As a student at massage school, this pic gave made me giggle.

My chiropractor does bones and soft tissue, but yeah, more "bones" focus.

Yay, giggle!! Do you have a lot of people offering to participate in your homework assignments?

Sometimes. Other times it's hard to find anyone. Massage may feel nice, but it takes time out of people's schedules just like anything else.

I think the best you could get would be a paw massage.

  How much would prints be?

  meglyman

( No Subject ) Posted: 4 years ago

$20 for 8x10, $25 for 11x14 (the place I get them printed is expensive, gotta find a new one). Although at AC I'll have them on sale at a discount.

i cant' find anything in your gallery that i don't love!

this was the pic that made me check out your work, when i saw it in someone's faves. i wish i had a chiroopractor.

if it would be fun for you, you should do a cuttlefish in your "cute" style.

a cuddlefish.

  that will be wonderful!

do you ever read "Pharyngula" by PZ Myers? i think of it as the quintessential cephalopod blog. some of my favorite recent posts:

luminescent deep-sea squid feeding: http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/....._wily_tani.php
fast color-shifting and threat display from octopus: http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/.....e_or_turni.php
adorable nautilus; i think it's being hand-fed but i'm not certain: http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/.....hisll_give.php

Great picture! XD I like your use of lights and darks, and the anatomy.

I'm very interesting in massage myself...your chiropractor does it along with the other stuff? XD

  meglyman

( No Subject ) Posted: 4 years ago

Thank you! I learned quite a bit about darks while doing this piece.

Yeah, he also has a massage therapist in his office, but the line between the two is blurry. He uses this cool pulsating thingy that makes your muscles just melt, like a massage.

It's fun learning about them, no? ^^

He has a massage therapist there? o.o And a cool pulsating thingy? XD That makes me grin.
