As so often with me, it's the expressions I notice first. Ciara's face has such a lot to say here. Not that it's particularly cheerful, of course, but you can tell she's gripping onto that pendant for all she's worth, and perhaps it's not too much to hope that it does at least give her some comfort to feel it in her hand.
Oh, same here. I almost always notice expressions and emotions first. Aurora did a really wonderful job capturing the emotions I wanted for this piece, too. I'm sure that, as you said, there is at least some comfort for her in holding on to the pendant. Sometimes it's little things like that which can be so important in times of loss and sadness, in that they let us hold on to at least something of what we had.
Not entirely, no. I have a pretty good idea, of course, but stories are always slippery, so I can't really say how things will go until they do. Though I guess saying so kind of ruins the mood of the picture. But Ciara's a tough girl. I'm sure she can survive anything I throw at her.
She does. She's one of those lucky people who gets to age gracefully, much like her mother before her. The pendant she's holding belonged to her wife, who can be seen wearing it here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5465011/ I've always liked it, and I'd love to have one just like it myself someday. And thanks! I really like this piece, too.
Poor Ciara hasn't had a lot of luck in her life. Some say it's because she's an illegitimate half-breed, and some say it's because her purple eyes are a sign of a curse, but trouble seems to follow her every step. As for this picture? Well, there's maybe more here than is readily apparent, but that's a story I have yet to tell. Mostly, though, this is just an image I've had in my head for a while.
It really does look wonderful, doesn't it? And to think, this was just supposed to be a colored sketch! I'm going to have to send the artist a bonus for this one, as soon as I can. She really did a fantastic job with the emotions of this piece, too. It made me want to cry, and it was my idea. As for what's happening? Well, to be honest, I haven't completely decided yet. This is just an image I've had in my head for the longest time and I wanted to get it down some way before I lost it. But it is true that Ciara is due more trouble in her life. This from the same person who once said she'd never write a sequel in her life! I don't know if it's a good thing, or bad, that I can't let Ciara go, but she's got a grip on me as strong as she ever had.
I know Peter Beagle once said he'd never write one, then he went and wrote at least a couple that I know of. Still, I don't think sequels are necessarily a bad thing as long as they add to your characters or their world, and aren't just written for the sake of making more money off the franchise. With Ciara and her friends, I have so many ideas to carry them all through their lives that I flatter myself any new stories will still be interesting an relevant. As for this piece? Well, I feel like I'm spoiling the mood by talking about it so much, but it was just something that had to be done. Though never fear. Niamh still has plenty more to do, so I'm nowhere near finished with her.
