(You've Got To) Rabbit Like You Want It.
I have a long history of shying away from male rabbits, because they honestly have never worked well in my style. Beefcake bunnies are especially prone to fail. To me they're best drawn as little harmless things. Those of you familiar with i.s.o. may remember Doug's friend Robbie, a chiseled personal trainer who was my attempt to futz with lapine design possibilities...but even he was still pretty compact.
Last year I semi-surprised
kevbot with an attempt to design him an avatar with some input from him and his buddies. The result was agreed to be cute but it never felt quite right.
This year he's been pushing his interest in rabbit furs more, and honestly a rabbit seemed to be a really good personal fit to him. As another (LATE x.x) birthday gift I thought I'd revisit the concept, who is now officially named Jerry Rigg (this is a guy who likes steampunk....suppress the groans, please!) But since Kev's a sexy bastard and beefy and goateed and all, I had to somehow make a suitably masculine bunny. Kev does often favor chubby characters, so I think making a bunny husky rather than ripped retains its cute, cuddly aspects better. So, this is a redesign and we all agree it's totes him. Totes, folks.
I had to play around with a color scheme...we'd considered a pale yellow cuz pure white just wasn't working, but then it was too Rabbit (Winnie the Pooh's buddy)-ish. The beige seemed to be a good compromise.
And continuing to play around with our respective interests in cartoon characters, I wanted to have him interacting with a few of our mutual crushes. So here's Pete, in his Goof Troop iteration, since I thought a used-car salesman would try to get chummy. Though it varies how solid and threatening Pete can be over the years, he's always all kinds of sexy, usually cuz of that big voice. Then there's Launchpad McQuack (his larger Darkwing Duck incarnation trumping the DuckTales design), while admittedly a bit overlooked lately, even Kev and I note we're not usually into avian sorts. But he just works. I guess LP crash-landed again, but no jokes about who's on top, mkay?

The gloves are a holdover from Goofy and Pete's birth in the rubber hose style; in a black-and-white cartoon short; the white gloves made the hands stand out from the rest of the body. They first appeared on Mickey Mouse in the short, The Opry House (1929), just one year after his gloveless debut in Steamboat Willie.
Fun fact: While Goofy is a newer character than Mickey (he first appeared as Dippy Dawg in Mickey's Revue (1932)), Pete is actually older; he dates to the "Alice in Cartoonland" franchise (1923-1927), Walt's first big hit.

Hey, who says you can't do rabbits? You've made this fellow look totally adorbs. He really is one big-eared bunch of cuteness.
Also a bit treat to see you do fanart of cartoon characters. And wait a minute, you got your own cartoon crushes too? Aww, dude, you gotta tell us more now! C'mon, man, spill the beans, spill!

Aaah, I see. Well, if this is any indication, you'll do just fine with future male rabbits.
A fanart rundown of your toon crushees? That would be very cool, I do so hope you find the time, as I am quite curious as to who they might be. I admit I don't have as many myself as I normally would think. Lately I've been into quite the fantasizing of Vinnie and Modo (Biker Mice) and the new Panthro. lol

*nods* For a rabbit, I think that's the sexiest, cutest rabbit I've ever seen. S'nice seein a chubby, husky one instead of a ribbed one. XD
And when it comes to cartoons, how can ya say no to Pete and Launchpad. They're just so....X3 XD
Glad to hear Kev's got his fursona. ^^

I think it's awesome that you're pushing your personal limits and exploring other body types with different species. It really shows your growth as an artist.
You really did well with this image and I personally can't get enough of that fluffy tail! It's a nice contrast between the buff and the gosh-darn adorable :)
Keep it up!

Cute. Aaaand honestly, just a touch creepy with that upper right one. You can clearly see that Pete is looking to take advantage of Kev, there, but Kev... has this expression like he WANTS to be taken advantage of. ^^;
Hopefully, this is all still in the context of used car shopping. :P

Hmm... come to think of it... I've never seen Body Building Bunnies even before... most of 'em are either Stocky, Husky, Chubby, Thin or according to my friend... Tanky XD But then again... haven't seen ripped bunnies before (that really strikes my meter *grins*)
Extra padding ain't bad *smiles widely* it makes better squishy hugs XD

Well, while he may not be exactly a huge beefcake bunny (and I have indeed seen that sort done well by other artists), I think you did do a great job making him cute, accurate, but with some bulk to him. Husky is as good as beefy, and he does seem to have a nice chest and arms. ^_^
As for who appears in the pic...I've never really seen the attraction people have to Pete (*hides from foxy wrath* Sorry!), but you drew him perfectly from what I can tell. I've always liked Launchpad, especially Darkwing's version--though only in the context of liking him, not desiring him. He just seems too...silly and goofy to turn me on, is all. But he's a great character I've always liked, as I said, and you did an awesome job with him too. :)
And it bears repeating: adorably cute, but still manly, bunny!
