soulshelter of her...raising owls! As a falconer would. Big owls, little owls, any owl you please, she's got it. I got the idea when we were talking earlier about owls and how it would be to raise one from a chick and how much she loves them and stuff.

This perfectly encapsulates what makes me love your style. It's warm and comfortable, slightly cartoonish but ultimately realistic. It feels like a lucid but partially forgotten dream... It reminds me of a world that I wished we lived in or a state of mind that I wish I could hold onto. It's the sort of style that reminds me of why Harry Potter ended up capturing so many imaginations. It's a style that I want to see illustrating every book that I've ever loved.

because it`s a sooty owl, and sometimes Barn Owls will hold their feet with the three toes in the front, i might just be nitpicking to say that owls have a different foot setting; unlike other raptors, it`s two toes in the front, and two in the back. Then again the sizes of those owls you have in the back are also a fair bit off, so! I still love this picture and the style you put into it~
I googled owl feet when i was drawing it and the first image that came up wasn't zygodactyl so I just went with anisodactyl for the sooty. :< Lazy me! Without real life experience with owls I couldn't really judge the size too well either. Ah well, it was just a fun piece anyway, live and learn haha
