Denzer - The Collie Barbarian
A redesign of my character Denzer from an eralier submission; http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3674794/
Since I wanted to distance my fursona from the majorlu supernatural, while still being a videogame toon in the casual setting, Denzer is also a person in an alternate reality.
-BACKSTORY-
During early fall, the King of the Forest Wulv and his hunting part came across a ravaged campsite outlying their village. The mauled and torn cadavers suggested a grizzly. One of the hunters scouted on further, only to discover the grizzly still present, clawing at something inside a hole in the ground. Wulv himself confronted the massive beast in a battle of honor; beastman against beast. The great grizzly fell to the dual axes of the King.
As his hunters were busy carving the downed beast for meat and its hide, Wulv became aware of something peculiar. Scooting into the hole in the ground, he extracted a bundle of cloths, smeared in blood at the surface. Rolled up in the bundle was a crying beastfolk infant; a small pristine white canine infant. Holding the child, the only survivor of the grizzly attack, Wulv beheld as the infant opened its eyes; a pair of bright blue orbs staring back at him in panic. Awestruck by the little one's fortitude and exotic appearance, Wulv decided to adopt the infant, naming him Denzer, after the original King of the Forest, Wulv's great ancestor.
As the infant grew, it became evident that he was not of the same kind as Wulv's people; the wolven. Denzer was smaller and more lithe in comparison, yet it was his pristine white coat and striking blue eyes that made him respected. The wolven believed him to be blessed by Lupus, the wolf ancient from whom the wolven originated. Still the wolven treated him as their own; Wulv had declared him one of them and raised him as if he were his own son.
Denzer, growing up in the savage and unforgiving wilderness grew into a powerful warrior. Despite his size, he was able to defeat wolven in fair combat, he could dash through the forest like an undeterred stag, and his howl was boisterous. Seeing Denzer's prowess, Wulv declared his adopted ward his sole successor to his throne. This worked to embitter Wulv's biological son Fenrin.
During the annual Great Hunt, the time of the year when Wulv had found Denzer, Fenrin decreed it time to remove his foolish father who'd dared to stain the glory of the pack by placing an outsider as his heir. During the hunt Wulv was felled by his own son, stabbed in the back when stalking a moose. Fenrin claimed his father's dual axes for himself, signifying his right of succession.
However, Denzer, having joined in the hunt would hear none of this; drawing his swords, ready to defy his bitter step-brother, thirsting for vengeance. Denzer and Fenrin fought, the older step-brother clearly at a disadvantage. The battle dragged them both to the bearby falls. It was during a moment of weakness that allowed Fenrin to nick at his step-brother's face, leaving a scar running over his right eyelid. In desperation, Denzer grabbed the shaft of the axe that cut him. Knowing the danger, Fenrin decided to abandon the second of his father's axes, pushing Denzer off the cliff into the rushing waters below.
Denzer, however, did not persih as his deceitful step-brother had intended; washing up downstream in a lake many miles away from his village. Gathering what strength he had left, leaving behind all deadweight, except the axe he clung onto, refusing to abandon his father's legacy. Like the white wolf of legend, he dashed through the woods, desperate to reunite with his tribe and warn them of Fenrin's treachery.
Upon arrival, it was already too late. Fenrin had declared himself the next King of the Forest, fabricating a story of Denzer being behind Wulv's death. following his rushed succession, Fenrin took all the warriors of the clan and lead them down south, the intent of boradening the clan's territory, a violation of the pact made between the other beastfolk tribes and clans. The remaining villagers, children, mothers, elderly and the druids took to Denzer's side. After being nursed back to health, Denzer took his father's axe and set off to hunt down Fenrin, intent to kill his traitorous step-brother, bringing the clan back and reclaiming his father's second axe and rightfully succeeding as the next King of the Forest.
Heading south, Denzer would come upon village after village, the wolven villages emptied of all their warriors and provisions, while the other beastfolks' villages had been ransacked of forced to join Fenrin's maddened quest for conquest of the land.

I decided to add some protection somewhere where it counted; originally I had Denzer wear an iron chestplate, but I decided to add an iron gauntlet and sapulder which he might've obtained later on. I tried to place him in his own environment, the forest which he is meant to rule; not good at all, I know.
There'll be more of these fantasy Conan-esque characters coming up.
