Ok, I finally finished this... At least, as far as a character ref page goes. I may add a background to this later... Still brainstorming ideas/concepts for the comic. It will be a fantasy (swords/sorcery) theme, so Ark has to say 'bye bye' to his hoverbike.

To answer your question: too long. I'm slow, to be honest... and I had some difficulties getting things to look the way I wanted. I probably spent at least 12 hours on this. =/

Practice, practice, practice.

I'm finally nearing a style that I can be happy with, so I think my speed will improve soon. Just have to draw more.

true....i just cannot believe its difficult, well its still difficult to draw a Hafe Raptor/Dragon..though im progessing kind of well.

When in doubt, draw inspiration from others' work. Of course, it should go without saying that you shouldn't trace (or otherwise rip-off) their work. There's a fine line between imitation and plagarism.

I never trace, all i do is watch movies about dinos, and dragons....and find really good books on how to draw this and that...but i must study, and compare what dragons, and dinos do for a living

It also helps if you find an artist who draws in a way that you like, and study how they draw things. That way you can get an idea of how to translate what is in your mind into something on paper.

That could work. At least with art that has already been drawn, you can study it at your own pace.
