Wait, is the bow shooting the axe? You might want to put them at a more obtuse angle to each other than that.

I changed the file a little and added a second emblem with the bow reversed.

I kinda like the top image where it looks like the bow could be shooting the double headed Axe. (Helooooooooo Grandpa!) I think what our friend might have been implying was to present both symbols in more of an obtuse angle to one another, kind of like making an "X" instead of a cross. Still. as a symbol all those involved in the party could easily draw for secret notes and such, this one works.

I like the first image too. So I've gone back to it. I've also put it into a shield shape. As this is meant to be a patch like worn on the shoulder of a military uniform I want to keep it simple but it's lacking something. Perhaps some other emblem below it to symbolize which part of the Longs the wearer is in. Hmmm - Back to the Heraldry webpages!

Interesting design. Given the secretive nature of the Longs it would seem logical to not make rank distinctions obvious. Assuming Longs actually take such clothing with them on missions. Maybe a loose hide-able patch to show to informants that they are Longs. Perhaps ranks could be shown by a number of notches on the axe or feathers on the bow or a combination of the two. Maybe some thing like a quiver with the number of arrows showing their standing in the organisation, though that might be too obvious and may better be used as a decoy feature.

As for what's missing. As mentioned in the mailing list something to link the patch to Metamor keep or something to connect it with the Long Scoutmaster, like a leaf with a sun symbol. Though I don't know what symbols and heraldry Misha uses. Using words on the patch might do it but I'd think too few people can read (in the context of the universe) to make that viable, plus if the symbol is recognizable enough words would be redundant.

With your permission I could use this on the shirts I'm designing for the SL group. Would this be alright? And what colours should I use on the design if it's approved?

Sure you can use it! As for the colors the weapons would be in white with a green background.
