It may have been rude but it's definitely not untrue. There's only two ways to read graphic novels... right to left and left to right. Gill rarely ever makes mangas that you read left to right. I'd assume if one way doesn't work, then try the other way.

Not everyone is really savvy about reading mangas, even in this day an' age. Bone, RASL, The Watchmen, Skydoll, Chew.... They read traditionally from left to right as they are published in the standard, easy for American reading formats. We read from left to right and that's how our books get printed. Manga is read right to left as that's how the printing format goes for them, even in regular books I believe. So, an American, on an American site, looking at a comic made by (you guessed it), and American, is going to naturally read the comic in the Western world of printing and get confused. Sure, he'd figure it out. There's only two ways technically that one can read a published thing. But the guy can't be faulted for being confused and commenting that the thing was "backwards"~

I figured this out recently that every once in a while someone draws a comic backwards. Still confuses the hell outta me. Usually it's not until the next day I realize; "Waiiiit a minute maybe I was supposed to do it the other way."

Yeah....Gill might have to put the ready disclaimer in the comic itself like he used to in some of the older works so people can catch that quicker. .

Faulted, no, it was a mistake, though I do believe in trying your honest best to figure out things before you go asking questions. It wouldn't take much to figure out 'it sounds better if I read it this way than if I read it the other way'.
Also, I'm American as well, and I figured it out pretty quickly. It's definitely not about nationality.

Well it sort of is about nationality. To a point. Western world will be looking for the Western way of reading. *nods* It's coo' though, I totally agree with ya. Gill usually puts a "READ RIGHT TO LEFT" in the information box under the submission and that should inform folks right away, but sadly people skip over those anyways =/

i work from right to left because im used to it and its how i enjoy my reading , im not some heavy anime fan its just a preference.

*nods* I tried to think of what comic you used that had the image on the left most side to warn people to read right to left, but it's been a while and I can't recall which one you did that with... Might need to come up with a little tag to put in your comics for new folks who find your stuff ^^
