Beastly time of year, this winter business.
Gotta think that giving up fur was a
crappy idea. Luckily it doesn't last forever.
Those who do have fur--like a certain
married wolf and bunny we know--are a touch
more sensitive about that.
We *do* know what happens in Spring, hmmmm? :- )

On The Fading Of Winter (#29)
The season’s not done. As wolf, I know that.
The snow still piles up high around the yard.
And cold? Hell yes. Even with fur a hat
Is crucial, lest bunny ears freeze rock-hard.
No small pleasure, to lick and kiss them warm.
Welcome task; foreplay when I start to bite.
Wolf ears are furrier, less risk of harm.
Although snowblower chores coat them with white.
But sunny days now show a change at hand.
The shadows shorter, longer brighter days.
Old Sol comes back, the blizzards cannot stand.
Spring’s afoot. In due time soon green will blaze.
Soon too, in her eyes a flame that I know.
What wakes in us in Spring: ah, there’s a show.

I appear to be doing these Sonnets in reverse order....but no matter. Each one is just as well written and well-paced as the one before (or after) the current one.
You have a great talent for these short pieces. I can't wait to wrap my hooves around some of your longer works!
Excellent job!
Oh, silly me! I must've put the confetti in the oven and the cake in the confetti cannon! Again!

Goes back a ways. Everybody in English class had the school-issue texts. I had my
Mom's Complete Works of Shakespeare. The sonnets in the back caught me. Much fun. Many
unreadable to a teenager. Written for their age.
But I grokked how they were done. Speech: straight from poet to reader, more than for
most poetry. That's a sonnet.
So why not give voice to a married wolf and bunny? Love: something sonnets are damn
good at. They've got a lot to say, I think.
FB.
PS: You remind me. Been meaning to set up a table of contents sub; must be done soon.
It's starting to become necessary. Stay tuned.
