I've been meaning to doodle this up for awhile. *chuckles* Please note, I'm making fun of myself more than anything here. While I don't actually run sobbing from the computer if the internet doesn't immediately shower me in praise every time I post a new image, I do have to remind my ego from time to time that people have better things to do than sit around telling me how awesome I am. Hell, *I* have better things to do. XDD This is just a physical representation of a fairly silly emotional thought process. Take from it what you will.

Oh, I believe it, especially in this day and age where nobody wants to stop and read what's on the screen. That's why when
colblackwolf and I decided to put a story we co-wrote out there, I determined to do at least sketches for each part to give people visual tie-ins. And you know what? It worked. c.c People look at the images, and go on to read the story.

To read a written work requires more mental effort and a significantly greater time commitment than viewing a piece of visual art. And if art and writing have one thing in common, it's that the number of producers who do it well are in the minority and there's a lot crap out there. It doesn't take very long to look at someone's art, and if you don't care for it (whether it's because of your taste or its objective quality) you don't feel like you've invested a lot of time in it. With written works, on the other paw, reading takes a much greater investment of time. People are reluctant to spend a lot of time on something they may decide later is crap, and thus are more reluctant to give it a look-see in the first place. And then there's the quick-fix mentality that seems all to prevalent these days.
By the way, I often don't read the descs that come with images. I watch enough people that I sometimes have to zoom through a lot of new submissions to keep up, and skimming or skipping the descs is one of the shortcuts I take. In your case, I think you were up to the third part of the story in question before I noticed there was a story being posted, at which point I quickly backed up and read it from the beginning.

That's a very objective way of looking at it. =) Huh, I'm always frustrated with short or missing descriptions on images, because if a piece of art catches my attention, I want to know more about it. That may just be my art background, though. I'll admit to being reluctant to read things posted to FA, because there's a LOT of crap, particularly from people who think they're good writers and... aren't. I'd like to think I have a fairly decent grasp of spelling, grammar, and storytelling. I'm not perfect or published, but people seem to be enjoying the 'Night to Remember' bits so far. =)
I've seen pictures that have some great descriptions/backstories to go with them, and find it frustrating that FA doesn't provide any easy way to save a picture with the description, metadata, and all. Granted, that's not really an FA-unique problem and begs for something like tagging/metadata standards similar to what are commonplace with audio files.
*grins to you* I think we all feel like that at some point or another. I do appreciate the work you do, and I think the picture you're doing for Kiba and I will turn out quite spectacularly. Beyond that, any time you want to chat about stuff, feel free to drop a line, and I'll gladly engage in conversation. :)
Hee =D Taur pics are always a challenge I agonize over because I want them to look right, and that can be hard. Still, I definitely enjoy working on them. I actually tend to be shy about starting conversations. I don't want to bother anybody. Get me talking, though, and good luck getting me to shut up. c.c;
I've seen the taur pics that you've done in the past, and I think that you do an excellent job in getting the anatomy down. I wouldn't worry about agonizing over this one, you've set an excellent framework. Also, the nature of the pic is such that some suspension of disbelief is required. ;)
I enjoy conversations...well, that's not a complete truth. Like anyone, there are some conversations that I would rather not have. But most conversations I enjoy. Don't feel that you're bothering me; I am curious about a lot of things, and will explore them at will, so it's all to the good.

*chuckles* Just being honest, really, and exaggerating it a tad for dramatic effect. Now, I *have* seen people berate their watchers for not commenting enough on their stuff, but I see it as something earned. If people feel they have something to say about your work, they'll say it. If not, accept that and move on. It's all a matter of keeping that raging hungry ego in check. =) We all like knowing what we do is appreciated, but I don't feel it's right to demand that of people either.
