It's a well rendered picture but honestly the situation doesn't make sense. Why would one cop be bristling so much that they have a finger on the trigger and shouting while the other looks up at them like they're crazy? Either the one with glock needs to calm down or the one on the ground needs to act a bit more surprised or responsive to the situation. Also, body armor on the CSI tech but not the one holding the gun?
Yes, it's actually the last scene that the Saarloos wolfdog, Adlai, is in the series before getting killed.
Technically Duke, the lynx, is a Detective(Forensic Identification Specialist) currently working in DNA while Adlai is a Detective(Homicide/Scenes of Crime) and in the city where the story takes place, Toronto, the budget doesn't allow for FIS to have their own vests as they are usually in the lab only and are usually civilians; however DNA is the exception where a FIS must also be a detective and do a 5 year understudy as such.
After Duke gets stabbed earlier in the series his wife nags at him about being on scene at all and so when he ends up being out this time with Ads, as TGP explained, he borrows Adlai's vest. Leaving Adlai vulnerable.
Duke, as FIS also does not carry a service arm. He could, as a detective, have one issued but because is almost always in the lab he never bothered. I suppose we can assume he has a small back up piece on his leg/ankle but knowing Duke, probably not.
As for Adlai reacting strongly: he knows Gunnar is the serial killer and Duke does not. ;) And Adlai, being part wolf is the only one of the team who still has more of the animal senses, ie: a working Jacobson's organ, so he gets a heads up via scent of someone being there much before anyone else would.
Annnnddd you probably didn't need a whole big spiel but you did ask. ;)
