Christmas gift for
Iggi.
Pattern for this project is ©Iggi, and I did all of the cutting.
I believe the wood used for this was butternut, and surprisingly I was able to cut the entire thing using only one blade in about 6 hours (plus another 6 hours or so for the sanding, varnish, base, etc.). The toughest part was applying the finish, as the first application was with a varnish that liked to pool. Since that didn't exactly turn out well, I re-sanded the whole thing with 600-grit sandpaper (extremely fine), and then re-applied a new layer of finish of a different brand. Not perfect, but it actually gave the clouds a bit of varying color.
This was also the first time I've collaborated with anyone on artwork, and I really couldn't have asked for a better partner!

These were my first commissions, and in doing them I learned that it's -extremely- difficult to balance projects like these with a law school workload. As such, to ensure that I actually have time to work on these things, I won't be opening commissions up again until after finals this semester. I'll post a journal about it when they're available.
