Christmas gift for
Aezen.
Pattern for this project is © Iggi, and all of the cutting was done by me.
Now this was very challenging. Cut on cedar with a purpleheart base, 3 blades and approximately 9 hours (plus additional hours for the base, finish, etc.).
For those of you that don't know, these projects (except for the base) are all cut on a single piece of wood. That means that the more you cut it, the less strength it has to hold itself together. This is particularly true when parts of the project have extremely thin pieces of wood holding them together. This piece has MANY such parts. Plus, the clock isn't held in by a traditional ring, it's held in place by the pressure from the interior of the crescent shape of the project. Add in some shipping complications, and this was easily one of the hardest pieces I've made.

The clocks are by far the easiest part. Those are ready-made to certain sizes and I just need to cut a hole for them to rest in. They cost about $5, so they don't add much to the price. I don't have a price guide yet, but it mostly depends on the complexity of the pattern and the price of the wood.
ah, well you can always give out specific quotes like i do, but it might be helpful to have a thingy that says a minimum price or average price based on details/wood cost and have a declaimer at the bottom saying the prices can vary depending on such things and you have a right to charge more or less as you see reasonable. ^.^ That's what i do cause every sculpture is different. ^.^
