Don't poke him... squids wake up cranky.

DragonCon doodle, colored in Gimp.

I need to work on blending, but I hate that smudge tool. I did this with a hard-edged brush on low opacity and color-picking. Any suggestions?

Smudge tool has it's uses, it's not really good for shading. I do so love your squid drawings.

Even hated tools can be useful from time to time. ;) But yeah, it drove me nuts, so I abandoned it. And thank you!

aw. The blending looks pretty top notch to me--to be honest, I blend like that too. ^^ If you use a soft brush you might get results closer to your intention, but I've never used Gimp, so I have no clue.

I think your shading is fine actually. The way you did it empasizes the squishy texture.

I tried to resist using that word, but squish is so...apt. :)
