This year's subject for costumization is not a Pokémon for the first time ever! Gonna take a break from that for awhile to pursue my own ideas- and the primary reason this is happening now is because I am getting ready to graduate from art school this December. My major is animation and I wanted to bring something into my final portfolio project that no one else in my school has done before, and that is bringing a character to life- for real! However I prefer not to include my Pokémon stuff in there, I need to show off something more original and personal. Thus the idea of using my character Theod was born.
Theod started out as an idea back in early high school, 2005 to be exact. I came up with an alien race that was essentially reptilian and wore futuristic armor. Now his species and storyline has evolved a lot beyond that and perhaps I'll get around to sharing more of it in the future. All you need to know is that he's essentially a badass raptor-like alien who is very technologically advanced. I kinda have a thing for dinosaurs... as I've only ever made one "furry" costume at this point |D Always wanted to do something like this, so now I'm making it happen.
One feature I wanted to present in Theod's physical design is that his anatomy is supposed to be somewhere inbetween anthro and feral... so I can stand upright in the costume or lean very far forward and it would still look right as well as being comfortable. In fact his final anatomical design was made specially so he could be turned into a costume. That also made me struggle with in unlike anything else to get it to look "right".
Vision will be through the underside of the neck of course. Fabric will be a velour knit with airbrushed scales.
Let's see how ambitious I can be with this eh?
Now go check out the stilt photos or watch them in action in the video.

The stilts alone are looking pretty neat. It was quite amusing watching you- it was kinda like me trying to walk in high-heels but with more justification for the slight awkwardness. Also, I guess small feet bases don't work terribly well in sand xD
Looking forward to seeing this done!
