Mental Break Part 4: Legend of Zelda.
Last one. This more exemplifies how my drawing skills improved. The main interesting point is I did almost zero underdrawing, and I could compensate for any changes. I would start drawing, make what seemed to be a stray line, and somehow integrate it later. Any difficult pose would require no planning ahead, and fall into place as I completed it. I found myself making better leg proportions and more fully-depthed torsos automatically. And again, each separate image took about 6 minutes tops, usually on a full-page.
I've always liked the Legend of Zelda series, but I tend to suck at 3D-world games, so the only ones I've played are the earlier games, and the recent top-down ones (Spirit Tracks, Phantom Hourglass).
One of the things they've lost in the recent top-down ones is humanoid furry type characters. Initially they had plenty, although they were just silly little pixelated sprites. Rather than use your imagination, they filled the instruction guides with more realistic interpretations of the characters. It seldom matched, but that's the way video games were back then, you young whippersnappers. Naturally, being enemies, they were usually made to look tougher than they did onscreen, often muscly and feral. Yum.
So I revisited a few of my favorites here from the first two games. I couldn't be bothered to check online for references or ones I'd forgotten, it was all from memory.
--Goriya. They were fucking cute, especially in that atrocious Zelda TV cartoon! I believe the consensus, though it varies among games, is they were rats. I actually started to draw a rat that I concluded was too sexy to put clothes on (not shown here) so this one is the second draft.
--Moblin. Not only do I like bulldogs, HOLY SHIT are they hot in the Zelda 3DS Dev had. Total beefcake. And again, somehow I pulled off what would be a rather difficult pose for me normally with almost no forethought.
--Vire/Acheman. Well, this was one of the last ones I drew and was running out of humanoid characters. Was at least a different body type.
--Fokka. Yes, that's its official name The bird-knight from the 7th level in the 2nd game. Actually was a huge bastard. I might add you can tell I draw organic stuff well like this, but inorganic...not so much. I had extreme difficulties with swords
--Lynel. Not sure if they were centaurs with lion or horse bottom halves, but the lion face was a must. The leather daddy outfit...uh...I guess that was my idea.
--Darknut/Ironknuckle. Not much to say, pretty self-explanatory.
--Daira. From the second game. I just realized I forgot his tail, unless he didn't have one in the game. Oops.
So yeah. Welcome to my world <3
And I'm sure you're all wondering what the OTHER sketches I made were about.
Wouldn't YOU like to know? Hee hee hee. Ain't posting those!

Hehe... It's nothing. I have this folder that contains artwork from other artists that I think I would benefit with learning something new art wise. Hehe... It may be sketches and or actual tutorial.
Woof! *wags tail* I should've been clear with that. I meant the 3D versions as well... hehe... the cartoon version may have muscles but it didn't really made me jump up and snuggle the television *chuckles* I don't do that btw XD
You posted it on FA.. wearing nothing is not really an issue ROFL. kidding. But yeah, Okay... is you say so sir V. *grins and winks*
Aww c'mon. Promise we won't show? *grins*

Oh yes...Original LoZ instruction artwork/original drawin's...Got ta like dem buff and big. X3 XD
And I 'member the 3DS moblins, heck, I 'member the N64 versions'. Just saw them on youtube a few months back. XD Both quite MRAWR >=3 (Didn't ever have a N64 or 3DS is why.)
Nothin wrong with Lynel. 0=3 Noa likey the added bonus outfit. HA! XD
That's a really great Darknut. Reminds me a lil of the Twlight Princess version in "2nd form". Though if ya want to see the "hotter" version of Darknuts. Look at Windwaker's Darknuts with their helmet and armor off. They're F-in Anubis'. X3
*Smirks* S'alright if ya don't want ta post them. A hybrid can 'magine....0=3

It is kinda interesting to think about those game characters now...they leave little to the imagination with improved graphics.
Yeah, I was shown those Darknuts XD There's other generic knights in the Zelda games though (Armos, Ironknuckle) so I didn't try to draw any one in particular.

Leather daddy centaur lion dude is actually pretty funny. The moblin has to be my favorite, though, not only because of the cool pose, but also because I absolutely love bulldogs (one of my favorite breeds and I'm trying to make a bulldog character for myself), and I just really like how you draw them. To me, bulldog is the very definition of "ugly cute", and I like the concept of a rugged fella who doesn't have to be the typical definition of "handsome" to be totally hot. And ironically enough, you're one of, if not the only artist I've ever seen who can really pull off making bulldogs handsome.
Ah, yes, the instruction manual enemy descriptions. My friends thought it was weird that I actually knew what the enemy names were. Then again, a lot of them thought I was weird for looking at the instruction manual in the first place. :D
Could never tell that Goriyas were supposed to be rats in the first game; everything else you could SORT OF see the resemblance in-game. Liking the shots of Ironknuckle and Daira here. :)

Really? I loved IDing the enemies. How the heck else could you discuss with friends how to beat them?
Yeah, the first game manual made them look kinda like foxes, and IMHO the second game and TV show were ambiguous, so that's what I thought they were. But the later games seem to agree on rat. Ironically one of the awful CDi games REALLY drives the rat look home.
Thx!
