Some of that is unfortunately the scan and the beads used. It is a black and white character with black hair. The scan does not show the shiny "hair" is contrast to the matt "fur" so the hair covers some of the one eye and yes, makes it look off :P In person, it is easier to tell where the hair and fur differences are and so the eyes don't look quite so off.
