Commission Info
Prices
Written pieces will be $0.75 a page, with the commissioner giving a desired page length for the story. Page lengths are estimations and not exact. A desired ten page piece will be somewhere between nine and a half to ten and a half pages. If I feel the story I have begun for you will exceed your desired page length, you will not be charged for the extra pages. While I wish to keep everything fair to my commissioners, I am unlikely to cut a story short for the sole purpose of being at the page minimum.
Page length is measured by the default formats of Microsoft Word.
Content
I am open to just about anything, though there are some subject matters I may turn down. Be advised, there are some things I may not be comfortable writing, but for the most part they’re too situational to make a list here. If I am uncomfortable with your request, I will tell you. If you are familiar with my works, you should an idea as to my primary subject matters, though those are by no means the limitations of what I will write. If you are unsure whether or not I’d be willing to write a particular type of piece, feel free to note me and ask.
Be advised though, that I am only writing short stories, which are unlikely to exceed 20 pages. I cannot take the time to write a novelette, so be sure what you wish me to write can fit within the confines of a short story.
Contact
I ask that you please contact me via note here on FA regarding commission work. I will also try to be as open as possible throughout the process, as I feel an open line of communication is vital in commission works. I just ask that you please be respectful of me and my time. I do have a full time job, so I am not available at all hours, and it may take a little bit to get back to you, but I will do my best to be punctual in replying.
What I Need From You
-As much as you can tell me about your character/s. While I will browse your gallery, I will not do heavy research into your characters or the worlds they inhabit. The more you can tell me, either directly or telling me exactly where to look in your gallery, the more accurately I can depict them, and the happier you’ll be with the result. My researching skills are very subpar, so the help is greatly appreciated, as you likely know more about where the information about your work is than I do. I’m not asking for a psychological profile or an atlas, just what you feel is important for someone to know about your character, things like personality, likes and dislikes, and that sort of stuff, so that I know whom I’m writing.
What Would be Helpful (but not needed)
-Reference Sheet: Not only does this allow me to easily picture your character in my head, but many I’ve seen also provide much of the information I’m looking for with what I need from you.
-Premise. While you can give me complete literary freedom, I’ll likely work better if you have an idea in mind for me to work off of. Even something as simple as “X and Y go on a picnic; hilarity ensues” will do, even if comedy admittedly isn’t my strongest suit. You can be as detailed as you’d like as well, if you have a particular story in mind, but a basic premise is all I ask.
Payment
I will be taking payment through Paypal, the information for which will be given via note if I take the proposal. Payment will be due upon completion of the work.
If there are any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the terms above, I ask that you ask in comments here, so that others with similar thoughts can see the answers without me having to give the same answer to multiple people privately. Thank you.
