This is the first take of a progressive rock epic I've been writing about the ongoing plotline of the DMFA webcomic by 
missmab, where a new war between the dragon and 'cubi races seems to be in the offing.
The mix could be better - the vocals clip in places and the volume level isn't consistent between verses. I need to look at normalising the levels (they were already tape-to-tape copied so doing it again with the levels tweaked shouldn't be a major problem ). Some of them seem a bit flat now, I might rerecord those.
The section 6:36 through to 'Who cares?' came to me in a dream where someone was playing a Genesis album in the room downstairs. I woke up at that point and was able to remember it long enough to put it into the song, since it fit the theme perfectly and isn't actually written by Genesis.
The logo is taken from bits of the DMFA webcomic which inspired the song.
Recording was done on Rosegarden, to an MSR-24 multitrack. Vocals were tracked on my TSR-8 and then dubbed onto the MSR-24. Mix was done to a Studer A807.
Instruments used were a Korg Triton for the drums and electric piano. Mellotron sounds were done on my custom playback thing using the Mike Pinder samples. The organ was a Hammond XM-1, and most of the rest of it was done on a Creamware Minimax.
The clip at the start was taken from 'Niall's Song', dubbed from the original master which was slowed down since the two songs were in different keys.

Till the dragon's men came calling and they cut his head off with a knife
He's not the first, he's likely not be the last
It reminds us all of a dreadful past
It's not some random murder, there's a point to what's been done
And people say a new war has begun
The last war was a bad time all around
Since the bulk of us were slaughtered and the rest were driven underground
The dragons made potential allies doubt
And adventurers tried to flush us out
And I can see it's lunacy when all is said and done
But people say a new war has begun
The dragons slaughtered woman man and child
And they spread dark propaganda since they want the 'cubi race reviled
I know we're not the nicest race as such
But a genocide seems a bit too much
And I can see it's lunacy when all is said and done
But people say a new war has begun
...are we all gonna die?
And in my mind's eye..
...I see the forces building up
The chances of life ending happy are grim
Who cares?
Who dares?
But we're all in this together, whether we know it or not...
They say Destania has some crazy scheme
And the rumours are she's working on some kind of anti-dragon beam
If true the dragon side may well be lost
But is victory really worth that cost?
I pray it's just a rumour, not a savage race to run

AFAIK all the major verses are canon except for the last one (since we don't know what Destania is actually doing, nor how many people know she's planning something).
It doesn't deal much with the flipside (i.e. what atrocities the 'Cubi carried out against the Dragons) - firstly because we don't really know and secondly because it's written from the viewpoint of a random (but concerned) 'Cubi.

Interesting song on what's possibly being hinted at in Amber's comic. There's a few things hinted that these deaths might have a connection to the past war between those two races and yet no one really knows what is happening with these cubi murders.
The last verse about Destania's scheme kind of gives the impression that there might be several rumors of possible schemes she's cooking up...Just that the Anti-Dragon beam is the most believable.
It kind reminds me how Mink went on a rant about one of Piflak's clan was murdered. The rumor mill is probably spreading and fearing what is happening right now.
