Silent Hill games used to scare me so bad, but I think I could play them easily now. XD They're awesome looking games and the story is interesting. Poor Sio, hopefully that blood is not his. ;w; *gives him a health drink*

The only silent hill game that genuinely scared me was 2 (I was 12 when I first played it) not the say the other games didn't have their moments. I know what to expect now so its not as scary but it still creeps me the hell out xD

I love the music in the games. It adds a lot to the atmosphere. XD And the sounds are usually what creep me out the most. Some of the music is good for drawing to. :3

I like the movie but its not nearly as scary as the games and doesn't give you the SH experience. Unfortunately a lot of the newer games are really bad but 2 and 3 are awesome and 4 was pretty good to.

And as for 1 well you need to play that game pretending that your intoxicated because the control scheme is 3D so you end up walking backwards and around in a ciircle a lot xD

Oh, that's a tough choice, all of them are good in their own way. Except for Shattered Memories... That one was terrible. o_o
I personally like SH2 and SH: Homecoming, though SH3 is right up in there. Downpour wasn't that bad and Origin had a good storyline, I'm not the biggest fan of SH4 though I really love the characters, and the first is, well, the first, it can't be compared to any others as it's in its own league. :3

I agree the first game is in its own league :3 tho i do remember when i first played it the controls threw me off.

I loved Silent Hill 2 ^^ its definitely my favourite. Wasn't impressed with home coming unfortunately. Found it wasn't as scary and shattered memories was... was shattered memories >.< Also Downpour in my opinion didn't make sense cause Murphy didn't really have a reason to be in silent hill.

The second is by far one of the scariest video games created, I have the original PS2 version (but my former roommate took it and I will be hunting them down until I get it back, dammit...)
I played through Downpour and it makes a lot more sense if you see/play the thing all the way through, it has this bad habit of keeping things from you that are pretty important to the storyline. As for Homecoming, sure it wasn't as scary, but that doesn't mean it wasn't as cool, and besides, I enjoy SH more so for its ability to make you think about why everything is there as opposed to outright scaring you, if it were just a scare fest I'm sure I wouldn't love it nearly as much as I do now.

Oh I completely agree. My friend an I can go on for hours about speculations of what the different monsters represent or why kind of mental hiccup the characters are dealing with in each game and all sorts of stuff like that. And I link homecoming for its action :) although i hate schisms >.>
I was only able to play 2 or 3 hours into silent hill 8 so I'll see if I can borrow it from my friend again.

Everyone hates Schisms, I hate Schisms so much... But yeah, the fighting in Homecoming was great, but I have no one around who likes SH as much as I do, so I never get to talk with anyone about it, kind of like how I'm pretty much the only horror movie nut in my town so I have to watch them by my lonesome. It makes me sad on the inside, but I survive. :/

Really need to try Silent Hill 2, almost everything else doesn't get me even the least bit spooked or even unsettled. Amnesia has been the one game I've played that I would generally call scary. Doesn't have those stupid jump scares that assumes you didn't play any classic twitch shooters like Unreal Tournament which had you respond to any sudden movement with murder.

Amnesia was good. If you're gonna play a silent hill game start with 2. Personally its my favourite :) they don't rely on pop up scares. The closest thing to a pop up scare for me in the game was walking around turning the corner and walking RIGHT into pyramid head but it wasn't a cut scene and it happened so naturally and he was just casually strutting about covered in blood that it really isn't a pop up. Then he started persuing me and that was creepy xDDD

I have played Silent Hill 2 by myself but i was really disappointed by it It wasn't creepy for me and the story was solala, Silent Hill 3 was much better there and really scary

I actually think the opposite xP
I found heather to be too ditsy (not to say that James isn't a retarded puppy) but between the two characters I felt more for james.
As for gameplay I thought the monsters in 3 looks kind of funny and silly not scary. Something about the more human-like monsters being only deformed but still close to being human were scarier. Also walking around feeling like pyramid head is following you slowly is kinda creepy xP

But to each his own :3

Well you could start an argument now if monsters that look like a living display with a second pair of legs instead of arms or like a walking picture really look human like or not XD But I think Silent Hill 3 is better in general, because the parallel dimension is more bloody than in Silent Hill 3 and more, well, more crazy XD But Pyramid Head also has scared the shit out of me, even when it looks like he's raping the other monsters And what's also better in Silent Hill 2 in my opinion is that you see more dead people laying around in the streets^^
