The family was still a little overwhelmed by this. Like Sparrow had said they’d handed the card to the hotel cashier and suddenly they found themselves upgraded from a simple two bed single room hotel to a full-on suite with two full bedrooms, a small kitchen, a flat screen TV with a nice couch in front of it, and a small balcony. Momma had naturally asked for two roll out cribs, one for the twins and one for Petie (despite his protests), since they finally had room for them and once they were delivered the family started to settle in. First order of business, feed the twins before they get fussy and change Petie before he gets fussier. Rose handled Petie while Momma took care of the twins.
“Way to go dueling that guy Petie!” Rose cooed as she powdered Petie bottom “This new place is awesome!” she added pulling out a fresh thick diaper for her little brother. Petie just blushed and squirmed “T-thanks, I-it was n-nuthin… and does it have tu be dat thick?” he whined as Rose tapped it up and just ruffle his hair and giggled at the question as she hugged him. Meanwhile James was calling and updating their friends and family that their vacation had been extended as he absentmindedly pulled up the park site on the in room terminal. The place had wi-fi but the computers all seemed to be plugged into the same network to update the guests on the goings-on in the park.
“Hmmmm… that’s interesting…”
“What is it honey?” Momma asked, looking up from the nursing twins. James chuckled lightly “You know those whole “Park Rankings” thing that was mentioned in the brochure that neither of could figure out?” he said, waiting for her to nod before continuing “Well I think I finally understand it…” the huge abomasnow stepped aside so they could see the screen he pulled up. On one side was the picture of Petie that was taken when they first entered the park with “DP 58” under it, on the other was various information including his name, the ticket he’d entered on, his win record, and at the very top three stars like you’d find on a monster card.
The rest of the family just looked at him in confusion as James chuckled “The way I get it is all the guest’s starts out in the park with one star. You get more by winning duels. I’m not sure how the scoring system works but it looks like beating a park duelist shot Petie up a full two extra stars.” He explained as Petie couldn’t hide his proud grin, getting him another cuddle from Rose. “What is that number under his name for?” Momma asked as James clicked on it, pulling up a whole new screen.
“Hmmmm… apparently those are “Duel Points” according to this… you get them by winning duels and beating challenges. They can apparently act like credit to buy things in the park and are keyed to your badge…” James said reading the info off the screen. “… like money?” Petie piped up, eyes big and shining as Momma chuckled while burping the twins “Yes sweetie, like money… but don’t go spending it all on candy, okay?” she said, letting a little sternness creep into her voice. Petie giggled and smiled to her “It’s otay Momma, I knu EXACTLY what I’m gonna buy with it…” he said prompting Rose to bounce her little brother lightly and ask.
“Oh? And what’s that sweetie?”
“A better duel disk that ISN’T made for toddlers!!!”
********************
And as promised that was the first thing Petie tried to do when they got to the Madolche Chateau area… after he had to be restrained from chewing on the scenery enough times Momma gave Rose the twin’s stroller and hooked a toddler leash to him, until Petie had better control of himself of course. Though Momma wouldn’t admit it Petie’s pouty face WAS adorable. To make it up to him she bought him a few sweets to tide him over while the family browsed the huge cake and candy shaped stores. There was a huge amount of people just wandering around looking at all the merchandise… but oddly enough there was just as many workers showing off or offering bargains.
Momma watched Rose buying up costumes, toys, and cards wherever she could find a deal (what the kangaskhan needed with a Dark Magician Girl hat she’d never know) while James was fascinated with the wind up replicas of various machine monsters (including ones of the Wind-Up archetype). She’d bought Holly and Carol a Winged Kuriboh and Hanewata plushies by the time Petie finally finished the extra-large lollypop she’d gotten him and started tugging on her pants leg. Looking up at her with the big, extra sad eyes that meant he was about to start pleading to get his way. Giggling she scooped him up and rubbed noses with him before heading for the nearest duel disk shop.
She’d learned by now that the store keepers were a lot more relaxed when she kept Petie on the toddler leash, probably due to bad experiences with grabby little kids, she cradled him close and wandered around the shop to let him look. Finally his little paw shot out and pointed at something that made Momma laugh. It was one of the “Special” disks made to look like something… in this case it was called the “Sweet Disk” and looked like it was made of candy with a lollypop base and peppermint decoration on the card blade.
After a brief discussion with the person running the shop, and dressed like Madolche Marmamaid oddly enough, they’d traded a good chunk of Petie’s Duel Points in and the teddiursa could barely sit still as it was linked to his badge “All registered duel disks are linked to the users badge you see.” The lady explained as she typed a few things into her tech-pad “That way any wins and loses the duelist has can be recorded… as well as HOW they won or lost since that also factors into assigning points. There, that’s done. Now then can I interest you in anything else?” she asked, smiling to the twosome as Momma pointed out something on the back wall.
“Yes actually, mind telling me what that is?”
“Oh, this? It’s one of our many Duel Coats. Here, let me show you a more basic one first.” The maid pulled what looked like a duel disk built into a wrap-around body harness. The main body and deck holder, circular as normal, was held up by a shoulder strap and a large belt like fastener supposed to go around the waist. Attached to the left side was a little track that went from back to front with a guitar like card port on it attached to a swivel bar so it could be positioned at your leisure.
“They’re popular with teachers and academics for looking more professional then the more traditional wrist mounted duel disks.” She explained, slipping it on to show Momma how it worked “You pull the card port around front to use it and just slide it around to your back when not in use.” She said as sure enough the guitar like board comfortably held itself against her back once she slid it there. Momma nodded as Petie continued to play with his new disk “I see… now then, can you tell me about that one? It’s obviously a little different than your standard… Duel Coat was it?” Momma said, pointing at the one that had caught her attention.
The maid chuckled as she took the duel coat off and hung it back up before taking the one Momma was pointing to off the rack “This is one of our more novelty ones to be honest, but I might just work for you. It’s called the Momma Coat.” It was built on a similar harness to the first one, but this time with two shoulder straps and instead of the normal duel disk built into the front there was a back facing baby harness with two opening at the bottom for the baby’s legs (one a Velcro opening that could be adjusted for the tail).
On either side of the harness were what looked the a traditional duel disk style body but split into two half circles with a crossbar across the middle of the harness connecting them. The deck slot was on the left side of the set up like normal though. The card port was still on a swivel bar but was less angular and guitar like than the first one Momma had been showed and was more keyboard like with a squat body and rounded ends. Momma couldn’t help but giggle at the lifepoint counter having ended up on the crossbar connecting the two halves, right over where the babies bottom would be.
“It was made for mothers who want to duel and keep their babies with them… which admittedly is a fairly small market.” She said as she handed it over to Momma “It doesn’t have the same hard light damage reception as a normal disk to protect the baby and the harness part is padded to insure they’re safe and snug though the whole ride.” She explained as the ursaring sat Petie down for a moment and looked it over. She giggled softly at the thought of dueling with it… but that wasn’t likely to happen.
A soft yawn by her feet got her attention as she saw Petie rubbing his eyes. She smiled lightly. He had been too excited to sleep the night before and with arriving, the duel, and everything else it was no wonder he was sleepy even with all the candy running through his system. She scooped him up, wondering if the everybody else was finished shopping so she could go back to the hotel room and put Petie down for a nap… just as somebody called out.
“Hey! You! The brat with three stars! I challenge you to a duel!”
Momma looked up to find a vaporeon who looked to be in his late teens, somewhere between 17 and 19. He was tall and lanky and wearing a loose pair of blue slacks and a white t shirt with “Deep Sea” printed on it in blue. A pair of aviator goggles was dangling around his neck and he had a blue-green duel disk attached to his arm, the card tray modeled after a fish fin. He smirked as he watched Petie look at him with confused sleepy eyes as Momma spoke up “What was that young man?”
“You heard me, I wanna challenge your baby… er… if that’s okay ma’am.” He added quickly, realizing the sheer size difference between him and Momma. She raised an eyebrow as she looked at the boy “Any particular reason WHY you want to challenge him?” she asked as the maid snorted behind her “Because he’s looking for a quick cash in. Still scavenging around like a jackal Marco?” she asked getting a glare from the water type “That’s hearsay lady, do I even know you?” he said, getting defensive.
A few quick taps on her tech-pad and the lady returned the glare as she read off the info “Marco Jaxten, two stars, 32 DP, currently has two warning for forcing duels with unwilling guests both of which were higher ranked and unable to duel at full capacity when challenged.” She said, finishing reading off the section “I should know, I was working the stall across the street when you bullied that little kid who’d won an extra star for solving that gold ranked duel puzzle into dueling you. You did it just for points didn’t you?” she said accusingly as Marco fidgeted at this, looking away and fiddling with his goggles.
“Erm… uh… I think I should be going…”
“Actually young man I think you’ll be staying.”
The vaporeon looked at Momma confused as she gave him a stare that made him wither like a toddler with their hand caught in the cookie jar “You were going to pick on my baby boy just to get a few measly points… I think you deserve a punishment for that.” Before he could respond she turned to the maid “Ma’am, I would like to buy that disk but would it be okay if I gave it a test run first?” the lady looked at her for a moment before realizing what she was saying and smiled “Of course, just give me a moment to link it with your badge.” She said as she began to quickly link the two. Petie meanwhile gave Momma a wary look.
“Momma… yur aren’t gonna du what I think yur gonna du…”
“Sorry Petie, but mind riding shotgun with me for this match?”
“Nuuuuuu!”
Petie’s sleepy whines and protests didn’t help him any as the maid finished the link up and help Momma get the coat on as Petie found himself slipped into the harness legs dangling cutely and his puffy tail sticking out the seat. He pouted furiously as he rested his head against her chest… and her steady heartbeat put him to sleep in moments. Pulling her deck out of her back pocket she looked to Marco, a confident smile on her face “So young man… are you going to accept my challenge or are you going to run away?”
“Beating an old hag like you? Feh, probably barely worth the points… but you wanna lose so badly then lets do this!” Marco said as he held up his own duel disk… as a cough caught their attention and the maramaid pointed to the “No Dueling inside this shop” sign on the wall. They both looked away bashfully for a moment and quickly relocated outside. Marco played with his goggles as he looked to Momma “Anyway as I was saying if you wanna lose so badly then bring it!!” he shouted as Momma just smiled at him.
“Prepare for an obviously long overdue spanking young man!”
“Duel!”
“Duel!”

“Since YOU challenged me I’m going first!” Marco called, yanking a card off his deck “And I’ll set a monster and end my turn!” he shouted as a facedown monster appeared in front of him. Momma was much more composed as she drew her card “Sshhh, you’ll wake the baby.” She said making Marco roll his eyes “And I’ll set one monster and one facedown and end my turn.” Two facedown cards appeared next to her as Marco grumbled a little.
“Well this is dull… heh, hey old hag. This might be your long lost sister! I summon Mother Grizzy!” he shouted as a blue furred grizzly bear appeared (1400/1000) and Momma just gave him a “Not funny” look as he flipped his other face down revealing a light blue sunfish that leapt out of the pavement as if it was water (1000/100) “And my Nimble Sunfish! Now Mother Grizzly attack her facedown monster!” The bear roared and charged… just as tall bookshelves shot up behind Momma in a semi-circle and a the bear bounced off an invisible barrier (0/2000)
Momma LP: 8000 Marco LP: 7400
“Sorry, but it looks like my Royal Magical Library is a little too tough for you.” She said with a smile as she gently stroked Petie’s ears and Marco gnashed his teeth “I’ll set on card and end my turn!” he shouted as Momma drew her card “And I’ll play Terraforming, which lets me pull a field spell from my deck AND puts a spell counter on my library.” She said as one of several orbs on her library’s walls lit up and she pulled a card from her deck “And I’ll play Magical Citadel of Endymion!!”
There was a soft hum as the world around them changed and they found themselves standing in the shadow of an incredibly huge tower in a city filled with bizarre architecture. The air above them buzzed and crackled with magical ruins circling through it like neon billboards. Oddly enough the tops of the streetlamps around them resembled the orbs on the library... as another lit up. “Next I’ll summon Spellbook Magician of Prophecy!” a small boy in an overly large blue overcoat and incredibly decorative blue hat appeared. He had a bored look on his face as with a wave of his hand the book floating next to him opened and he began to flip through its pages (500/400).
“And when he’s summoned I get to add on Spellbook card from my deck to my hand!” she said as a card popped from her deck and she immediately played it “Like Spellbook of Secrets! And I’ll play it which lets me add one Spellbook card other than Spellbook of Secrets from my deck to my hand! Course, I can only play one copy of it a turn though.” She said as the book appeared in front of her a moment as one of the streetlamps and a third orb in the library lit up “Next I’ll remove three spell counters from my library to draw a card!” she said as the three lights went out in the orbs and she pulled another card.
“Next… I’ll play Spellbook of Power! This lets me give one of my spellcasters an extra 1000 attack points and if he destroys a monster this turn I get to add another Spellbook to my hand from my deck!” she called as the blue wearing magician began to read the glowing red book that appeared in front of him and his attack points shot up (1500/400) as another streetlamp and torch lit up. “Now attack his sunfish with Mystic Script!” she called as the Spellbook Magician snapped his finger and rows of floating ruins surrounded the Nimble Sunfish and made it shatter.
Momma LP: 8000 Marco LP: 6900
“And as he’s attacking I’ll activate Magician's Circle!” Momma called as her trap lifted “Now we each summon a spellcaster monster with under 2000 attack from our decks to the field in attack mode!” she called as Marco gave her a sour look “I don’t have any.” He said as she giggled “Well I do… so I summon Chariot of Prophecy!” she called as a warrior riding a white horse appeared. He was wearing green cloth armor, white pants, and a deep blue cape as he held aloft a sword crackling with magical energy (1800/1300)
“Well I have an effect to! When my Nimble Sunfish is sent to the grave I can send one fish type monster from my deck to the grave to special summon another Sunfish! This time in defense mode!” with a splash another Sunfish appeared (1000/100) “And since I sent Nimble Angler from my deck to the grave his effect activates and I can summon up to two level three or lower Nimble monsters from my deck to the field other than Nimble Angler! Meet my Nimble Mantas!” with a splash two manta rays surfaced just like the sunfish had (800/100) x 2 “Both in defense mode!” he said proudly. Momma just smiled and nodded “Impressive combo there… but your bear is still in attack mode! Chariot! Magic Rush!” with a battle cry the warrior charged forward and cut the blue furred bear down.
Momma LP: 8000 Marco LP: 6500
“So what!” Marco shouted back “I summon another one!” sure enough another Mother Grizzly appeared as a card slipped out of Momma’s deck “And the effect of my Spellbook of Power activates since Spellbook Magician destroyed a monster I get to add a Spellbook to my hand… my that was a lot of the same word in a single sentence… anyway I end my turn.” She said as Spellbook Magician’s attack dropped back to normal (500/400).
“My go then!” Marco shouted as he drew and looked over the cards in his hand “… damn it…” he mumbled as Momma gave him a glare and covered Petie’s ear “There are children present you know.” She said as the sleeping teddiursa just sucked away on his thumb and Marco gave her a glare “I move all my monsters to defense mode, set one card, and end my turn.” He grumbled as his monsters crouched down, or in the case of the fish hovered lower in the air and a facedown appeared.
“Okay then… my go!” Momma pulled a card off the top of her deck, bringing her up to six “And I summon… Temperance of Prophecy!” a woman wearing a decorated brown dress and a long sleeved hooded cloak appeared carrying a smoking golden cup in both hands (1000/1000) “Then I’ll play my second Spellbook of Secrets!” another streetlamp and orb lit up as Momma pulled another card from her deck “And then I’ll use the effect of my Temperance! Since I played a spellbook I can tribute her to special summon my Emperor of Prophecy!”
A man dressed elegantly in purple and gold with rune covered tags trailing from his clothes and carrying a gold scepter appeared, looking down at Marco with mild annoyance (2300/2000) “And he has a powerful effect… but I’m gonna skip it this turn! Instead I’ll play another Spellbook of Power!” she called as the same book as earlier appeared and Chariot’s attack shot up (2800/1300) and another streetlamp and orb lit up “And that’s three more for Magical Library so I’ll remove the spell counters and draw a card!” all three went out as she pulled her card.
“… there a point to this beyond you trying to deck yourself out?”
“Yep! But first… do you know what my monsters are based on?”
“… not really, don’t care either.”
“They’re based on the Major Arcana of the Tarot, but here’s a card from the minor Arcana! I play Cup of Ace!” the spell card appeared in front of her as another streetlamp and orb lit up “Now I flip a coin and if I get heads I draw twice but if I get tails you draw twice, ready?” she asked as Marco just raised an eyebrow. She took that as a yes and flipped the coin which tumbled through the air before landing on… head! Momma pulled two cards and immediately played one “I activate Foolish Burial!” another orb and lamp lit as she sent a monster in her deck to the grave.
“Now Chariot! Emperor! Attack his manta’s!” she called as the two monsters blasted the manta rays into oblivion with magic and another Spellbook slipped out of her deck as Chariot’s attack returned to normal “And then I’ll set two cards and end my turn.” She said, looking down to coo Petie who was still sound asleep. She was quite enjoying this actually. Having him laying against her like this was rather… comforting. She have to get a harness to let her hold the twins like this.
“I draw!” Marco growled pulled his card “And I’ll move all my monsters to attack mode!” he shouted as Sunfish floated back up and grizzly stood up “Then I’ll play Salvage! I can add two water monsters with under 1500 attack to my hand!” he shouted as a Nimble Manta and Sunfish slipped out of his grave. Another streetlamp and orb lit up with a spell being played.
“Then I’ll play Moray of Greed! I return two water monsters in my hand to my deck and draw three cards!” he shouted as he shuffled the two nimble monsters back into his deck and another streetlamp lit “Then I play Rainbow Life! By discarding one card from my hand I gain lifepoints instead of losing them till the end of the turn!” he called as he discard a copy of Nimble Angler “And since I discarded Nimble Angler I get to summon these two back!” two nimble Mantas sprang back onto the field (800/100) as he grinned.
“Now… my Manta’s will attack your Emperor!” he shouted as both fish flew at the regally dressed mage as he gave a disgusted look and vaporized both of them as a rainbow colored aura flared up around Marco “Then my Nimble Sunfish attacks him!” the other fish flew through the air and met the same fate as the manta’s “Now I’ll send my Frilla Rabca to the grave to special summon my next Sunfish!” another one appeared “And it’ll attack you as well!” the blue colored fish shattered as the rainbow aura around Marco was positively blazing.
Momma LP: 8000 Marco LP: 12100
“Next…”
“Next you’ll attack with your grizzly, summon another one, repeat, and probably attack with the monster you summon with that.” Momma said, not too phased by the sudden turn of events as Marco glared at her “Just cause you called it doesn’t keep it from happening.” He spat as his grizzly charged the emperor and was destroyed only for an identical one to appear and repeat the act as a green, snake like fish with multiple blade like fins appeared (700/1500) “This is my Friller Rabca… and I’ll end my battle place there and start my main phase 2…”
Momma LP: 8000 Marco LP: 13900
“And I’ll start it by playing Surface! Now I get to target one level 3 or lower monster of a particular type, like fish, in my graveyard and special summon it!” a Nimble Manta appeared back on the field as another lamp lit “And since I haven’t used my normal summon this turn I’m gonna bring out my big guns! I tribute both of them to summon one of the two bruisers of my deck…” his two monster vanished as the concrete behind him began to ripple like the sea “Meet Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth!!” he shouted as something HUGE jumped out of the ground behind him.
It was a hideous whale sized fish covered in rocky scales and seaweed with an equally huge mouth full of sharp teeth and a crown of coral on its head as it splashed down behind Marco (2800/2200) “And I’ll use his effect… by discarding one card from my hand...” he ditched one more copy of Nimble Angler which apparently had no more targets since nothing happened “I can special summon as many level four or lower fish type monsters as I want from my deck!” suddenly another Friller Rabca and three dark gray colored sunfish appeared (1500/100) “Like these Needle Sunfish here… but they all lose their power… not that it matters of course since…”
“Since your King can tribute one of them to negate and destroy anything that targets him, right?” Momma said, making the vapreon give her a dirty look “Well aren’t you so smart.” He said mockingly as a face down card appeared “I set one card, your turn.” Momma nodded and pulled her card “Now then... first I remove the counters from Magical Library to draw again… but I’ll use my Magical Citadel’s ability to remove counters from IT instead.” Three of the nine lit streetlamps went out as Momma drew “And I’ll use Magical Library’s ability anyway.” The library’s orbs went out again as she drew.
“Now pay attention... this is going to get complicated… first I summon my second Chariot of the Prophecy.” Another horse riding warrior appeared “And then I’m going to overlay then to Xyz summon my Alchemic Magician!” the three monsters turned into orbs of light and crashed together to reveal a beautiful young lady dressed in archaic clothes including thick gloves and boots. Goggles sat nestled on long, curly green hair bigger then she was and she held a beaker of glowing liquid in each hand (1500/1500) as three orbs circled around her.
“Now then, her first power is that she gains 200 attack for every spell in my grave… and I count 7.” Momma said as the girl giggled and her points shot up (2900/1500) and Marco made what you could assume to be strangled sounds of disbelief. Momma ignored them and continued “Next I’m going to play Double Summon to allow myself an extra normal summon this turn… so I’ll bring out my Hermit of Prophecy!” she called as an old man who looked like a traditional wizard appeared. He had a long white beard, a long sleeved robe, a wizard hat, and a staff as magical ruins circled him (1200/700)
“And now I’m revealing three Spellbooks in my hand…” she said turning the cards around to reveal her last copy Spellbook of Secrets and Spellbook of Power, as well as a Spellbook Marco didn’t recognize “To special summon my High Priestess of Prophecy!” a beautiful woman wearing heavily decorated clothing consisting of a white halter top and pants with rune covered strips coming off then like streamers appeared. A dark grey musketeer like hat rested on her bright pink hair as she seemed to be reading a book that was floating in front of her, ignoring all else going on around her (2500/2100).
“Next… I’ll play Spellbook of Secrets to add one more Spellbook to my hand…” another streetlamp came on, Alchemic Magician’s attack rose (3100/1500), and the Hermit started to chant “Which activates Hermit’s power! When a Spellbook is played he gains 300 attack and his level increases by two, bringing him up to level five! Now I’ll overlay him with my emperor…” she said as Marco shouted out “Oh COME ON!!!” but she ignored him “To Xyz summon my Empress of Prophecy!” she called as a polished white and gold throne rose up, the woman sitting on it looking like the opposite of the emperor in a simpler, white and gold queenly outfit as she carried her scepter and looked impassively at Marco (2000/1700).
“And her power gives 300 attack for each Xys material attached to monsters I control! I count five!” Momma called as Empress’s attack shot up (3500/1700) as Marco made those strangled noises again. She chuckled “Tell me young man… do you know who built this citadel?” she asked as Marco gave her an insulted look “Duh, it was Endymion. Hell his names on the place. Why?” he asked before going pale. Momma just smirked, almost feeling guilty about this “By removing 6 spell counters from the Citadel I can special summon its master from my hand… or grave!” the streetlamps almost all went out as the card she’d put there with foolish burial popped out of her grave “I summon Endymion, the Master Magician!!”
There was a flash of lightning from the top of the tower which crashed down on the field as an imposing mage appeared. He was dressed in an intricate black and gold outfit with elegant pointed shoulder-pads. He had a matching peeked hat with a golden mask built into it hiding half of his face but what skin could be seen was purple. A white and gold ring circled behind his back as his purple cape billowed and he leveled his menacing looking staff at Marco (2700/1700) “And when he’s summoned like this I get to add a magic card from my grave to my hand!” Momma said, pulling Cup of Ace out of the grave.
“Now… I’ll use his effect letting me discard a spell to destroy one card on the field! Like your Needle Sunfish!” she called as she sent Cup of Ace right back to the grave and a bolt of lightning shot from Endymion’s staff, shattering the fish. As it died it’s body opened as if on a hinge and it shot a barrage of barbs at Empress making her attack points drop (3000/1700) “When Needle Sunfish is sent to the grave one of your monsters loses 500 attack!” Marco shouted, obviously sweating by now. Momma just smiled sweetly to him.
“That’s fine… since Endymion and my High Priestess are both level 7!”
“What tha fu… ANOTHER Xyz summon!?”
“Yep! I create an overlay network with my two monsters…” Endymion and the High Priestess turned into orbs of light and crashed together in a blinding flash of light “To Xyz summon the Hierophant of Prophecy!” a new mage appeared from the light, tall and regal looking. He was wearing an elegant long sleeved coat with an intricate collar colored a deep grey with gold and white trim. White stripes of cloth covered in ruins draped off it and billowed in the wind like streamers. An intricate seven pointed gold crown sat on his head as he held up his cold staff, looking impassively at Marco (2800/2600) as the orbs circled him and Empress’s attack went up because of it (3600/1700).
“Now then… I’ll use my Hierophant’s ability.” Momma said as one of the orbs circling the mage was absorbed into its staff “Which lets me destroy spell and traps on your side of the field up to the same amount of Spellbook cards I have in my grave… there’s only one though so I’ll get rid of it!” the hierophant pointed his glowing staff and Marco’s facedown Poseidon Waves shattered as the vaporeon looked genuinely panicked and Empress’s stats fell slightly (3300/1700) “Now then… I play my Spellbook of Power to give Hierophant a boost!” the red book appeared once more as the monsters stats shot up (3800/2600) and Alchemic Magician’s stats rose due to another spell in Momma’s grave (3300/1500).
“And now… Empress! Attack his King!” The woman in white slowly got off her throne and pointed it at the huge ugly fish…” as a copy of Friller Rabca jumped out of nowhere and bit down on her arm making the Empress scream as her attack dropped more (2800/1700) “When Friller Rabca’s in the grave I can banish him to negate an attack on an Aqua, Sea-Serpent, or Fish type monster and make the attacking monster lose 500 attack points till my next end phase!” he shouted as Empress finally shook the fish off and sat back down on her throne in a huff.
“Very well then… Hierophant! Attack his King!” the regal mage held his staff up and in a single blast Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth was vaporized as Marco winced “… I can only use Friller Rabca’s effect once per turn…” he mumbled as Momma pulled a Spellbook from her deck and then pointed “Thought so… Alchemic Magician! Destroy one of his Needle Sunfishes!” the green haired girl giggled as she tossed a potion at the fish, making it explode even as it shot its barbs at her dropping her attack (2800/1500). Setting one more card Momma discarded a card from her hand “At the end of my turn I can discard a card and remove a Xyz material monster from Alchemic Magician to use her effect. I get to take a spell card from my deck and set it.” She said as a card popped out of her deck and appeared on her field “And now it’s your turn.”

Marco drew as he watched Empress’s attack fall further (2300/1700) and he looked over his hand before starting to laugh “Wait… why the hell am I panicking? I still got lifepoints! Lot more than she does! And I haven’t played my best monster yet either!” he said with a grin as Momma just looked at him “Young man, as a writer I feel it’s my duty to inform you… when a character starts laughing madly and talking out loud to himself it’s usually not a good sign…” she said making Marco abruptly stop and go red faced as he muttered weakly “S-shut up you old hag! I play Salvage!” he said as the spell card appeared and he pulled two Mother Grizzly’s from his grave.
“Next I play Big Wave Small Wave! All water monsters on my field are destroyed!” his two fish shattered, Needle Sunfish shooting Hierophant as it died and dropping his attack (2300/2600) “And I get to summon the same number of them from my hand!” he shouted as two Mother Grizzlies appeared (1400/1000) x 2 “Next… I set two cards… and have my Grizzly’s attack your Empress!” he commanded as both bears threw themselves at the white robed woman only to be shattered for their efforts.
Momma LP: 8000 Marco LP: 9500
“And since they were destroyed in battle… I get to special summon a water monster with 1500 attack or less for each of them!” suddenly the cement behind him started to surge like the ocean again as hundreds if not thousands of fish surfaced and began jumping through the air in a single seething mass as something began to rise up from them. It was the upper body of a man, completely colored a dark, ocean blue as if made from seawater itself and anyone with the vaguest familiarity with Greek gods would recognize him. The wild hair and beard, spiny crown, furious expression, and trident clutched in his fist made it obvious. It was Poseidon in all his fury as after a moment a second one rose up next to him (0/0) x 2.
“Meet my Rage of Deep Sea time two!” Marco said as the water giants loomed over him “Their stats might not be much… but they gain 500 attack for every fish, sea-serpent, and aqua type monster in my grave! And I’ve got a LOT! Eighteen in fact!” with a roar like the crashing of waves both monsters attack shot up impossibly high (9000/0) as Marco laughed “This is my kill move you old hag! That brat I beat to get my second star wet himself in fear when I used this on him!” he bragged as Momma just looked at him sternly. He ignored her in favor of more arrogant laughter before thrusting his arm out “Rage of Deep Sea! Destroy her Empress!” as the Greek God rip off lifted his trident to strike.
“I activate Forbidden Chalice!”
“WHAT!?”
A golden cup appeared in Rage of Deep Sea’s free hand as he looked at it curiously before taking a drink and going into a coughing fit. Momma smiled “This quick play spell selects one monster on the field and gives it 400 attack points until the end phase… at the cost of its effects. Oh and just so you know… it’s too late to call off the attack.” She explained as Marco said some things she had to cover Petie’s ears to keep him from hearing even in his sleep as his now drunk looking monster (400/0) tried to continue the attack only to get shattered by the Empress.
Momma LP: 8000 Marco LP: 7600
“Yeah!? Well he makes my other Rage of Deep Sea stronger now!” Marco shouted as his other Poseidon roared (9500/0) “And he’ll attack…!” the teen stopped as he looked at the three monsters Momma had in play, obviously debating on who to go after “Her!!” he finally said, pointing at Alchemic Magician who, while having gained a boost from Forbidden Chalice being in the grave (3000/1500), was still no match for Rage of Deep Sea as he ran her through on his trident making Momma wince. Empress gasped as well as her strength dropped thanks to the loss of Alchemic Magician’s Xyz materials (1700/1700) Still grinning Marco set two cards “And that’s all for me!”
Momma LP: 1500 Marco LP: 7600
“Seems I haven’t been giving you enough credit…” Momma said as she drew her card “Smart move picking Alchemic Magician instead of my other monsters…” Marco snickered “Of course! I bet you had another Forbidden Chalice you could have pulled with her and destroyed my other Rage of Deep Sea! I’m not gonna fall for that!” he said, apparently riding high on his ego. Momma just smiled sweetly “Too bad you’re going to lose all the same.” she said as the effect of Friller Rabca wore off and Empress’s attack lifted back up (2200/1700).
“First I use Hierophants ability again, removing his last Xyz material to destroy all your spells and traps!” Marco didn’t seem to bothered as his other Poseidon Wave and a Mirror Force were destroyed and Empress’s stats fell further (1900/1700)“Then I’m using two of my set cards! I usually don’t play traps but these are an exception, my Hidden Spellbook!” two identical trap cards flipped “I can take two magic cards in my grave and shuffle them back into my deck for each of them!” she said as two copies each of Spellbook of Secrets and Spellbook of Power were shuffled into her deck.
“Next I summon my Strength of Prophecy!” as a bright red haired young warrior appeared, wearing red clothing that matched its hair and dark grey cloth armor while carrying a large stone axe (1500/1400) “And I’ll use her power! By shuffling a Spellbook card from my grave into my deck…” another copy of Spellbook of Power slipped out of her grave “I can choose one spellcaster of the field and raise its level by one and its attack by 500! I choose strength raising her level to 5!” the monster glowed for a moment as he points shot up (2000/1400).
“… there a point to you shuffling all this back into your deck?”
“Actually yes, yes there is. You see Empress’s ability is by discarding one of her Xyz materials I can shuffle my deck and look at the top five cards. Then I can destroy one monster you control up to the same amount of Spellbook cards revealed… I have less than 20 or so cards in my deck and I just put back five Spellbooks along with the ones still in there…”
“… you bitch…!!!”
“Do you need your mouth washed out with soap young man? Anyway I activate Empress’s ability!” one of the orbs circling the woman was absorbed as five cards appeared in front of Momma and she chuckled as two turned around to reveal a copy of Spellbook of Secrets and Spellbook of Power as Rage of the Deep Sea roared and tumbled backwards before shattering. Marco proceeded to flip out at this “S-s-so what!? I’ll… I’ll still have points left! Then I’ll bring Rage of Deep Sea Back and end you!!” he shouted as he looked at Momma fearfully as Empress’s stats hit bottom (1700/1700).
Momma chuckled as she placed the cards back on her deck “After Empress’s effect resolves I can return the cards to my deck in any order… then I’ll play my second Cup of Ace.” She said as the spell card appeared and she flipped the coin… getting tails this time as Marco laughed and drew two cards before grinning madly as he showed one of them to her “Look at this! I drew Monster Reborn! Next turn you’re gonna lose!” he shouted, all former composure gone. Momma just smiled, tapped a finger against her head, and asked “Did you forget about Endymion?” making Marco pale as he frantically looked around, counting the lit streetlamps.
“… four… five… s-s-six!!?”
“Yep! I removed six spell counters from my citadel to special summon Endymion, the Master Magician back from my graveyard!” the lightning flashed as the lamps went out and the black cloaked mage rose back up to the field (2700/1700) as Momma pulled her Forbidden Chalice out of the graveyard “Though his effect is rather a moot point now. Empress! Attack his lifepoints directly!” she called as the white magician blasted Marco with his staff since, without a monster to actually GET attacked, he couldn’t use Friller Rabca to block it.
Momma LP: 1500 Marco LP: 5900
“Strength, Hierophant? Follow it up!” she called as the red haired warrior rushed Marco and struck him with her axe bringing the vapreon to his knees. Hierophant simply pointed his staff at Marco and blasted him, knocking him back off his knees and onto his ass while Momma smiled “Young man? Your decks ability to power up Rage of the Deep Sea is impressive… but it’s a pure beat down and rather one note. Not to be rude but I’m fairly certain the only reason your score and points got as high as they are is due to you picking on people at their weakest. I hope this was a valuable lesson to you… if only because the fact that putting you over my knee and paddling your bottom would get me charged with assault.” She said, shrugging softly as the vaporeon struggled back up to his feet giving her a pleading look.
Momma LP: 1500 Marco LP: 1600
“Oh and if I ever catch you preying on helpless people or little kids again I will do something WORSE to you, now with that said…” Momma said as Endymion twirled his staff and for a brief moment ever one of the citadel’s streetlamps lit up around them… before all firing off bolts of energy that converged hard on Marcus “THAT one is for calling me an old hag.” Momma finished with a satisfied smile on her lips as Marcus fell to his knees. A quick check revealed Petie still sound asleep and in need of a change. He always was a heavy sleeper.

Momma took a deep breath and let it out as the citadel faded back to the normal shopping district. She had to restrain her smile as she watched the vaporeon scramble away, almost on all fours, with his tail between his legs. Looking around for a moment she wasn’t sure whether she was disappointed or relieved that her family hadn’t been around to see that. She’d lost her temper there… but it was over and done with now so nothing could be done. Walking back to the Duel Disk store she found the maramaid waiting for her with a big smile “That was some impressive dueling Ma’am, you might stop by Yami sometime. The citadel and libraries there might peek your interest.” She said as Momma blushed.
“I’ll be sure to consider that… for now how much would this disk be?”
“Well let me check your badge, I think that win might have given you enough DP for it if not another star at least.”
“Thank you, that’d be fine.” She said as the maid pulled up Momma’s info as the ursaring gently stroked Petie’s head. After this she’d need to head back to the hotel room to get Petie a change and set him down for a proper nap… the twins probably needed a nap too by now. She might even tell everyone about her victory… but probably not. After all she wasn’t that good a duelist since it doesn’t take much to beat arrogant brats.
To Be Continued…
Here we get an introduction to the Ranking and Duel Points of the park as the family continues their vacation. Also we find Momma stepping up to the dueling plate this time to defend her so. Will the mother bear have what it takes? Better question is how badly she's gonna thrash the idiot who decided to mess with Petie! Read to find out!

Mother’s WisdomThe family was still a little overwhelmed by this.

Moving on from my gripe, nice job as always! I admit I never payed too much attention to the Yugioh series to know how it works off hand, but it seems to flow rather well, along with the decimation that Momma gave to the moron that is Marco. Good job!@
