Well, yeah... this sketch is probably not very interesting to the majority of you... there are no anthros, dragon creatures or anything like I usually do. But you know me: I also draw a lot of fan stuff or other concept art.
This is a concept for a fan artwork! It's showing a GDI soldier sitting on a cliff and gazing down at a wasted city... destroyed by war... and Tiberium!
The scene takes place in the "Command & Conquer" universe ("Tiberian Sun").
I love to draw my concepts and sketches with the tablet these days... but THIS artwork will be drawn with TRADITIONAL media in the end! ^_^
This is going to be a birthday gift artwork for my brother Chris.

Sandig. Also Ähnlichkeit mit Sandsturm.

Here you go! ^___^ It's just a sketch, but I will arrange a wallpaper version of the final version, too!
Enjoy!

Wow, ich hab Command and Conquer früher geliebt!
All THAT mineral there just waiting to be collected by either side, because other one will be annihilated entirely hehehe ^^ Nice sketchwork from ya! Oh and heard this already??? EA plans to Re-release C&C Complete Collection by next year, every C&C and Red Alert in one big pack, plus a Music complilation of "best tracks from all games. I might get it for the music "set" I just hope there's many tracks to listen to ^^
Here, looky:

That is the old design of the NOD BARRACKS. A simple fist raising up... holding the world in it's grasp. This was way too stupid for the new
And this is the new one, which I have used:

Thanks for the fav, by the way! *cuddles and hugs* ^^
Wait until the REAL artwork is finished! It's already 35% done.....

Hmmm, nope, never played that game before, I almost though it was some Halo stuff before clicing the pic XD
So, this is the result of a real sketch of yours with colors, eh? I say real because those previews sketch you ever showed to us are very elaborate to be considered a "sketch" XD
But hey, it doesn´t looks bad at all, definitly the color green took over the whole pic, the funny thing is that my first impression was that giant guantle which is far away on that base, maybe because I was asking why is there a guantle that looks big and small at the same time XD

Oh nice, I hope you can finish it soon ^ ^
By the way, I have a question about your traditional style. I´ve been makinf some traditional illustrations in class with pencil colors and stuff. And as I remember, you make the lineart with pen and inking and later you add the colors, right?
So my question is, what would you recommend me to do first and later to make sure that the color pencil don´t cover the linearts and make it look less ugly? ^ ^º
I´m not sp good on color pencils when is about quality heheh, especially when is about making the strokes ^ ^º

Usually, I'm drawing the sketch and first drawing with a PENCIL first. Yes. This PENCIL drawing is getting inked by black INK then! So, the second step would be doing the line art and erasing the pencil!
BUT there's been a new change in my technique lately:
I am doing the sketch and pre-work at the PC... digitally. Then, I print the sketch and put it on a LIGHT TABLE! ^___^ I use the sketch as "pencil" work and... draw the ink line art directly (!) on the new paper sheet. This has the advantage that I do NOT have to erase the pencil. Working with rubber spoils the lines sometimes and "hurts" the paper sheet!
But mostly, it's this way:
1) PENCIL (digital or pencil)
2) INK (pen and liquid ink)
3) BASIC COLOURS (markers)
4) EFFECTS/HIGHLIGHTS (acrylics and coloured pencils)
^___^
Basically, you also have two options now:
A) You can draw with pencil, do the line art with pen or ink then... and have to erase the pencil remains.
B) You draw a digital sketch, print it and use it as reference to trace. And then you can do a clean line art directly!
Talking about coloured pencils... well. I suggest you colour your line art with the coloured pencils, too. But if you are afraid the black lines would get "thin" in the end, you can use a tissue to rub over the pencil... and the black lines will become darker again! :3
Or you have to draw over the black lines again... a second time. Yeah.
Colour pencils are tricky, but if you use a handkerchief to rub over it, the coloured parts become smooth!!
Hope this helps.

I see, interesting new method you used with the digital part ^ ^ But I prefer the first one, because my pencil drawings aren´t so strong and when I add the ink and erase them, is just like there wasn´t any pencil in that paper XD that´s my usual method for my comic ^ ^ Besides, I´m using a lot of papers for my comic, so I don´t want to waste more paper heheh XP
And interesting, maybe that will help ^ ^ I also heard something that using "white gasoline" (not sure if that´s the correct name in english) ad¡nd with a cotton, it can make the pencil color´s stroke disappear and have a nice presentation, but I never tried it yet XD not sure if you heard about that method.

I love the dark, gloomy and eerie atmosphere of this work. The distant rolling clouds and flashes of lightning give a sense of anticipation, a calm before the storm kind of feel. The various shades of green also give a murky, ominous feel. Something different from your traditional reptilian works. Bold and dramatic, I love it!
Great work Patrick :D
