This is why I should not be left alone with alcohol and Minecraft. Specifically the Tekkit mod, which allows me to mass produce pink and magenta wool blocks and produce things like this.
This pixellated Pinkie stands 55m high from hooves to mane, is hollow, surprisingly capacious, and will eventually become a house. It's within sight of my friends' massive and terribly serious castle project which now offers a view of Pinkie from the front gate :D
...I may also be working on a Rainbow Dash, since Tekkit has an awesome tool to enable me to clone and rebuild a 3D rectangular area elsewhere.
(Credit where it's due: the body was based on http://www.planetminecraft.com/proj.....y-little-pony/ since I would have no chance of freestyling things as I am not a 3D modeller. I am a fantastic lego builder however, and manually built it block by block based only on those pictures, tweaked it a little for shape, and added my own hair style. Further refinements may yet be made, as you know, I tend to fiddle with stuff :P )

Minecraft good. Tekkit baaaaad. There's zero need for mod packs SSP. Use MultiMC and IDResolver, and get the mods directly from the authors. Tekkit still doesn't have permission for all their mods yet, which is a big fax-pas among those who actually write the mods.
Now, for servers and multiplayer, there is a use for mod packs... to make sure everyone is on the same page. This is actually how Tekkit got started, just a server pack. Then Yogscast featured it, and suddenly everyone and their second cousin wanted it... however, when they started monetizing it (donations, adfly links, etc...), they crossed a very bad line. Well, actually, they crossed a bad line when they started distributing mods to the population at large (not just to the server population) without the permission of every mod author of every mod in the pack. But monetizing it made worse in the eyes of several portions of the community.
Tekkit is working to correct some of their past mistakes, however they have a very long way to go yet, and have infuriated a good part of the mod developer community.
Once IDResolver updates to 1.3.2 (should be fairly soon), I'll be releasing a video tutorial on how to do mods without relying on mod packs.
