Lakes are usually not depressing. At a certain lake I love to rent a paddleboat, get to the middle the lake and stay there for a bit. The slight breeze, the gentle waves, a border of lush, green trees, the faint chatter of birds, I don't experience that often because I practically live in a desert.

There should be more lakes in the world, just not the commercialized trashy kind. Now THAT would be depressing.

Also I'm not saying it was depressing, I said with the position it -was- gonna be depressing but its not.
