It didn't stay away.
It was in front of the office
The very next...year
Oh, the bus came back
Didn't seem to want to roam
The very next year
It was home, sweet home
So what? there are buses like this all over NYC, so what's the deal? Look at the number on the bus pictured in 2000 Hits, and the one in the backdrop here. Almost a year ago, I shot a photo of the exact same bus (7774) parked in front of my place of employment. That was the photo reference for the one pictured in my 2000-hit commemorative. This morning, I arrive at work to find it parked in front of the office again.
Make no mistake about it, I've seen #7774 in other places over the past year. It's just the second time I've found it parked in front of the office when I arrived at work (a number of lines terminate across the street and extra buses are occasionally parked nearby awaiting their runs), and I just happened to have a copy of "2000 Hits" stored in one of my generic Chinese MP4 players (it's set as the start-up pic), which I usually keep tucked in my backpack. So, I took a shot of both, moments before the real one went back into service and started its run (you can see the driver looking over his shoulder waiting for an opportunity to pull around the corner).
This is the sort of photo that only happens when you carry a digital camera all the time. A few co-workers have vowed to play that number, having seen the pic :)

Not really--I'd prefer the subway or light rail, but the train doesn't go everywhere, and NYC doesn't have light rail. (and we seem to be the only US city that can't build any even though the idea re-surfaces from time to time)
I happened to use that theme because the electronic signs on modern city buses make a convenient place to put a "random" message announcing the hitcount milestone. The only reason I remember that particular bus number is that I used that particular one as a photo reference. It could have been any bus that happened to be parked in front of the office (which actually isn't that often) around the time I was approaching 2000 hits.
As it is, the number of the one that happened to be there was a touch unusual.
But I try not to re-use themes in successive kiribans. So, although I'm approaching 5000 hits on my main page, I don't (as of this writing) have any idea how to announce that next milestone.

I dont think Manhattan really needs light rail to be honest, it already has a very extensive subway and bus network, its probably cheaper and easier if they are gonig to build stuff, build things that already are compatible, like more subway lines, more bus routes, etc. If anything Eastern Queens or Long Island might be a good place to try light rail.
