At last, I got Happy Jacques completed and framed today! The mat is blue (though you can't see it here) and the frame is black. He's looking quite good and super colorful. This little dude took FOREVER to complete, mostly because I was working on digital commissions and put him on hold, but also because he's one of my more complex works.
Happy Jacques is here to make you happy...and I hope that he does. I'll be taking him to work tomorrow and put him on display there.

I'm not terribly familiar with him myself, but apparently he was a well-known and well-received singer-songwriter and chansonist (I hope that's a word). Given that this frog's playing a little ditty himself here, and given the similar name, I just thought he might be based on him. :)
Hey gator, thanks! Those cel paints are totally wild. On the unfinished side it's matte kind of dulled, but seen on the finished side it's all glossy as seen through the acetate. Kind of wild really. This sucker took a SUPER silly long time to do, even framing it was a pain in the tail. Oi!
