Everybody's got a conspiracy theory, right? Well here's mine.
There is only one kind of duck and that's the Mallard. Wherever I go, I only see Mallards. It could be in the middle of a city or out in a wildlife refuge but when it comes to ducks, it's still just Mallards, Mallards, and more Mallards. What kind of ducks do we find in this photograph I took on the Potomac? That's right, they're Mallards! I don't think any other kind of duck exists.
The photos are doctored. The paintings are fakes. Wood ducks? Northern Pintails? Blue-winged Teals? I don't think they exist.
