Well, those units are overly done. If you want more proper looking, look at Battlefield 3 or 4, they almost more accurate. Or go for ARMA II or ARMA III for even more realism.
The real military isn't like that at all.
For Red Alert 3, that was EA's attempt of continuation of Westwood Studios Red Alert 2. The Red Alert series was an alternate time line of what if Hitler was killed, the war would be of Allies vs Soviet forces. Red Alert 2 was the re-rise of the Soviet unit after their fall in Red Alert 1 (base off the Allies winning, the Soviet winning actually leads to the Command and Conquer series with NOD and GDI). Red Alert 3 was EA's silly remake of Red Alert to make another game for more money, so they did the time machine thing again and created a new line. Of course EA carried on the cheesiness and silliness from the 90s design of Red Alert game (because of low budget back then), for they of course themselves want it to be cheap produce and make lots of money from that game, while put their idea from their game Command and Conquer Generals, which was EA's own game from the C&C line which was successful for it's own universe idea. Now they've been try to shove that idea onto all the Westwood game series so they can extend them beyond their design, therefore make a profit off the game by using its title to carry it.
