MUDs, MUSHes, MUCKs, MOOs etc. are all telnet-based chat worlds, basically. Text, no graphics, like a series of chat-rooms each with their own description (tavern, bedroom, throne room, candy shop, etc) and all connected through cardinal directions (North, south, etc)

Discordia is specifically an adult, MLP-themed one where everyone plays ponies or other canon species from the show. No anthros have been allowed so far, apart from dragons like Spike, since they're canon.

There's a surprisingly large population of pudgy ponies there, both OCs and variants on mane 6 characters. The premise of Discordia is that Discord was never defeated in this version of Equestria: he upset everything, then simply vanished, and chaos has reigned ever since, allowing multiple versions of familiar characters to exist.
