"Did you see where it went?!"
"No... It got away again."
"Did it steal anything?"
"I... I donno..."
Even as the store owners looked around, what the Finx had stolen became apparent, from the lack of tweets filling the air. Both the store owner and his wife looked at the cage where their pet canary had formerly sat, a few yellow feathers littering the bottom of it.
"The bird... Why did it steal...?"
"No... That little thief didn't steal our bird... Look closely..."
As they looked at the cage, the woman looked away. "It ate... Our bird..." She breathed, looking mortified.
