Yes, toward the end of this fanfic, http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7475492.....our-dementions , he was attacked by hagsfiends and Nyra (Guardians of Ga'Hoole). A pair of owl battle claws snapped the bone in the in his left flipper, causing him to lose a lot of blood, and also made him go through two surgeries to repair the bone. He ended up with the scar.
