UPDATE: The suit was found and returned safely. Thanks to everyone who helped spread the word, I am 100% sure the attention you brought to the matter made all the difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I agree, stolen fursuits are completely worthless in a fandom like this, but with the price people charge to make them nowindays you are going to have people who want one and feel there is no other way for them to get one. That is what scares the bejeezus out of me - no one in their right mind would think they could get away and use a stolen fursuit like this except for private use, and the thought of one of Jon's suits (which he kept squeaky-clean) being used like that depresses me to no end....
Technically, it cannot be accounted for - but yeah, Fran suspects a particular person lifted it. So I'm asking everyone to spread the word, share the links, and basically put the heat on. We're hoping if the person realizes the jig is up once anyone in the fandom sees it, he might give it up now before more drastic measures are taken.
Not lazy. Overworked and overbooked, yes. What's more important, tracking down a missing fursuit or a missing child, an attacker or even killer, or who caused the accident that sent three people to the hospital? Many towns have cut their police force even more with the loss of revenue from lower house values shrinking tax incomes. Not that they were running with a full complement of men to start with. I'm sorry, but I can not take "lazy" being ascribed to any police force in the nation today.
I don't know why you'd steal something like that. You can't wear it in public, or sell it anywhere online without getting caught. You could probably pawn it for a few bucks but the suit would have been tailored to PG's size, and anyone who buys it would probably thick it for a mascot for a shop or school, and then later found and accused, and have it seized as stolen property, and no one wants that hassle.
But to be sure... Do check your local pawn shops for the next little while, and if you find it, don't buy it. Instead, tell them to hold on to it for a week and that you'll beat offers, then get the cops. I've seen so many stolen goods end up in shops (a few of a friend's guitars once upon a time, and a few were already sold and lost forever.).

Retweetet! Stealing a suit is the lowest thing possible ever! I was devistated when I misplaced my suit but I got it back safe and sound. Hopefully the evil slime/dirtbag/piece of crap (I know you all have fetishes out there so i put in a few so people don't have to be offended) is caught and prosecuted! SEND EM TO HEAVEN! They don't deserve to yiff in hell! XD
I don't understand suit-theft - Anyone in the fandom would recognize it immediately at any con, I think. It's a really awesome looking suit - I hope it's found and returned to whoever is supposed to have it now. My sympathy to the family and friends - having to track down a stolen suit is beyond "adding insult to injury". Shame on the thief.

I cannot say much in case legal action is taken, but the short version is that a local was allowed access to PG's stuff shortly after his death, and apparently helped himself to more than what he was supposed to take. It could be a weird case of wanting something to remember Jon by, a twisted sense that he had done something to deserve it, or perhaps just plain theft. What worries me is, in this fandom, a stolen fursuit that is well-known is pretty much useless. It's like stealing a famous painting. So, most likely it was stolen for "private use" - and considering Jon kept his suits squeaky clean that thought alone disgusts the Hell out of me...
I was going to say...to play devil's advocate to a fault, it was probably more this guy not being malicious, but more thinking he deserved the suit or felt he knew what's best for it. I can see him probably just keeping it in his house and never wearing it. Though if he does...ouch.
In any case I hope you get the suit back, this is so ridiculous.

While the act of stealing the suit is a terrible thing to do, I wonder what the motivation behind it was.
Is is possible that someone felt such a loss, they wanted something personal to remember him by? And in this fandom, few things are as personal as a suit.
Regardless, I hope you are able to quickly recover this.

Many layers to how fucked up this is. Its someone else's suit, wearing it is kinda gross. Wearing someone's suit that you've stolen makes you a terrible human being. Stealing a suit from someone who has passed away is despicable. I don't often get a chance to use that word. Favorited to spread the word.
I dont know if this is it. but i am always on this site and this is the first time i have seen any panda stuff on here. so i find it kind odd but here is the link

Truly shocking, I've heard of people getting their fursuit stolen before, but never from a deceased person, how friggan low. What would you even do with it? You can't wear it, you can't sell it, because people will recognize it. ESPECIALLY a panda suit. How many of those do you know of?
*Sigh* I'll be spreading the word and keeping my eye out on the auction sites and so on.

Stealing a dead man suit... yep it would be recognized if worm the way it is. However if the their had the suit modified.. say stripping or polka dots.. .. taken in to fit the suitor.. and modified the head or even turned it into a different animal all together.. well.. there is little hope of every getting it back
Talk about disrespecting the dead - especially some cheerful fur who just wanted us all to be happy.
Meanwhile, Signal boost - GO!

What were the plans for the suit following PandaGuy's passing? Honestly, there is not much that can be done with the suit, unless if you know he wanted someone specific to have it.
I'm sure you are trying to get in contact with the person who you suspect of taking the suit. If it really is just a misunderstanding, I'm sure he'll return it. If it turns up at a con, especially here in the south, someone is bound to recognize it.

I find it appalling that someone would do something as low as to take a deceased Suiter's suit. That's just low. Understandable if they were close to the person in some way, but to take something that expensive and precious to the deceased. That's just low. I hope that its found soon because even though I didn't know the individual the Suit originally belonged to. It would be a crime against the deceased and the Suit if it gets used for inappropriate reasons. Good luck with finding the person behind the theft.
I really hope it's a misunderstanding of some sort. I will boost the signal But the possibilities are so scary. the person could strip it down and change it any way they wanted. Let us just pray it is unharmed, untouched, and returned to his mother. Poor family, and poor pandaguy. I bet he'd be heartbroken...:(
I don't understand why so many suits are being stolen lately. It makes no sense if they ever have any hope of wearing it to a con or anywhere really.
I hope that this guy or girl gets what they deserved and more. People need to realize that stealing suits is not only worthless but tarnishes their reputation forever.

First don't mean to sound like an idiot but who is the late Mr. Jon exactly, I got linked from another journal and was interested to hear the story. Also for a fandom that is so nice, excepting, and loves helping one another we do have a few people that all the douchness was concentrated into, like whom ever filched that suit.
This was his FA page. https://www.furaffinity.net/user/pandaguy
Pandaguy was a long long time member of the fandom, a great guy, and a friend to all.

It's fucking disgusting that anyone would do that. Stealing a suit is bad enough, but one from someone passed on? Like I said, fucking disgusting. I really hope you find the suit, and I hope whoever took it gets in some serious trouble. It's pathetic that anyone would even think to do this.
I've heard about Mr.Jon, he seemed like a very nice guy and to have lost a wonderful person like him that passed away is bad enough. I mean, why would someone want to steal a beautiful well-known suit that means so much to him?
This is something I don't understand. It's like going into an someone's home and steal all of their memories they have kept for many years. Whoever did it, they are extremely disrespectful and horrible. I'll absolutely keep an eye out!

Hey, not to worry, I will send this to my friend
kennykitsune (Who also knew Panda Guy) plus there are two Conventions near us an Anime Con in Las Cruses, and the Texas Furry Fiesta next month. I will keep a lookout for the Panda suit at them both, and I will let Kenny know to keep a watch out for it too.

http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4254638/ there you go Timberwlfy glad to help you ^..^
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4254696/ Kyru told me about it. Hope you catch the idiot.
I urge you you to contact the police.
It being missing is cause enough to start looking and at least talking to people.
Nothing will make a theifs stomach turn like an officer on their door step.
Perhaps we can orgonize a fundraiser in order to have some cash as a reward for its safe return?
PM me if you'd like, I didn't know PG but I'm a master of fundraisers and would love to lend a hand.

Maybe it wasn't "stolen" at all. As demonstrated here with many furs reading disabilities, as con staff I find they also suffer from hearing disabilities. Of course, both reading and listening travel through that same comprehension areas of the brain, so the problem might be located there. In any case. it's been returned and all's right with the world...until the next crisis.
I do not have a furry name for the guy, and am not sure the name he even gave Pandaguy's mom is correct. I want to get ALL the facts right before tossing any actual names out there. He claimed it was a misunderstanding, but frankly it looks like he went over to the house offering his help, and used the moment to grab what he thought he could get away with.
Yes, I think when he realized that half the fandom was looking for it, and he would not be able to set foot outside with it without having a lynch mob after him, he decided to return it and call it all a 'misunderstanding' rather than be drummed out of the fandom....
