Playing around with the Ratha portrait - color variations of fur and eyes. The eyes and pelts are interchangeable, so there are 81 possible combinations.

I took the painting I already did (original is the middle row, left column) seperated the eyes and fur to different levels, then played around with hue, saturation, and color variations in very small increments til I had something that looked decent.
If you want to vary line art, just the line, go to enchance - adjust color, color variations, set it to shadow and slide the intensity thing all the way to the left.

Wow...
Froggy, you done blew me out of the water again!
The red-gold coat with the green eyes could be Bira (with longer fur) (Bira is from Clan Ground)
The sepia-brown with amber-green eyes is Cherfan
A very light sandy tan with green eyes could be Fessran.
The albinistic gray with light blue eyes could be Ashon, (a new character in Ratha's Courage, which, as far as I know is still coming out as an E-book soon.)
Actually, this is quite an inspiration, because, believe it or not, I often have a bit of trouble describing colors of eyes and fur. I try not to let them all blend together, but I often run out of color descriptions.
Also, I can't go off the deep end in describing color, since the Named, like most mammals, are somewhat colorblind, especially to reds. Which is too bad, since red-gold coated Bira is really beautiful.
And so are these wonderful images.

I tried to base all of them on a color phase you'd mentioned in the books, except for the pale purple eyes - I'd run out of colors, and hey, I just like purple. For coat colors, they go: albino that Ratha mentions, True-of-Voice, Night, Ratha, Bira, Thakur or Bone-chewer, Quiet Hunter, Fessran and Cherfan.
Of course - go right ahead. You're far more awesome than I _ I was reading about your electric car. Amazing!
I was wondering if the people organizing an RP might like something like these mix & match images to make avatars. I could add in some markings or details like a ruff or longer teeth and there'd be almost endless variations.

I don't remember exactly where I read about the car. I was idly googling you several months ago to follow the fifth book's release. I think it was on a site for authors of speculative fic for younger readers. I can hunt it down if you like.
I have to tell you, I am highly impressed. I take public transit right now, and hopefully the cost of electric cars will come down enough some day that I can afford one. My genie bottle wish would be a more enviromentally friendly version of a Dodge Viper (any kind, although I like the early 90's ones), 1935 Bugatti Atlantic or classic 1965 Shelby Cobra 427. You can tell, because those are what I usually give my lucky characters to drive ;)
