Hello,
want
I would love to commission you but I'm currently working on a christmas present for a very good friend of mine. I would actually want 3 drawings (2 singular characters and one with 2 characters in it), I dont mind if its between roughsketch of fullbody, color would be nice depending on how much more charged :) . I would like to ask if its possible that I send you a sketchbook (i will supply return paid enveloppe as well and the drawings done in the sketchbook. If you're interested I can note you for further details and all.
Thanks for reading!

Well one thing to remember is there is not a level playing field out there unfortunately. You are seeing a market place that is global and from artists who range in skill level, popularity, hobbiests to professionals. Add in the fact that some folks live in countries that their economies are drastically different, where the USD is so strong against their own currency, 5 bucks = 20 dollars worth of buying power here.
So how do you determine what to charge? First evaluate your own skill level. Consider how long it takes you to complete your art. Most artists tend to start low and then raise their prices over time until they find their break point, where they've reached the edge of the 'supply and demand' spectrum of their own unique nitch.
Don't set your prices so low you feel like you are giving away or under selling yourself, but do be prepared that it may take some time to find your audience. I know artists who are exceptionally proficient skill wise, but aren't as well known. And I also see artists who's skill sets are aren't as technically profound but are still incredibly popular. I hope that helps some! As a general rule I wouldn't charge less than 10 bucks for a black and white sketch, no matter the skill level.
Good luck!!
Hey, thank you so much! Yesterday I had someone lecturing me on why I should lower my digital prices because "digital is the easiest form of art" when for me, it takes a LOT of time and effort. (Older, slower computer that can't handle the fancier newer programs.) It was only when I began showing what I was capable of did he suddenly quiet down. I might need to go over my price menus again.
Like I said, I don't want to undersell, since even a detailed lineart still has practice and concept sketches which all take time. But thank you so much for your time! It's a big help.
