Well besides that I was using a few context clues as well, like the map on the ceiling above his head told me stories of exploration, and since there's a throne, I distinctly remember him getting together with the princess of Atlantis, I forget her name, I think it was Kida or something along those lines. So like in some kind of epilogue you'd think he'd end up king of Atlantis. The citizens of Atlantis also wore more tribal style garments. That necklace he's holding looks similar to the style, but more for those with noble status, something closer to Egyptian style jewelery. The only thing that doesnt match up might be the robes he's wearing, which upon first glance, I had mistaken them for his trench coat that he wears closer to the beginning of the movie.

There was a lot more than just the glasses that led me to the conclusion, you could still easily pass this off as Atlantis fan art, which is really really neat since that wasn't even the intention. X3
