Chiptune - Secret of Mana - Into the Thick of It (VRC6)
Also: MIDI version, MIDI MP3 version
This wasn't the hardest chiptune I've done, but it was pretty challenging.
At first I tried to do it using the Namco 163 sound chip and adapt all the voices from the original music, but Namco 163 voices tend to sound rather washed out, especially if you're trying to do a lot of them at once.
So, I fell back on the good old Konami VRC6 sound chip. But I still had to cram, and ultimately I had to sacrifice some of the original version's notes to make it all fit, and in the process I had to make sure it wouldn't sound terrible.
And...it sounds pretty good. I'm relieved.

I recently finished the game again with a buddy of mine. I tried going for 100% but then I came to notice I couldn't anymore because the best helmet for the boy is only obtained from an enemy in the Pure Lands. After you complete it, you can't go back. Needless to say I was annoyed xD
Well, at least every magic spell was 8:99 - a first for me to achieve :D
