Just a fun idea I had while on the morning commute.
Not sure Hopps would do SWAT, but it's an amusing thought anyway X3 you couldn't even blame her for bunny-hopping ...
... sorry, I'm super tired.
Comments answering tomorrow morning. I'm turning in for the night.

A threat is still a threat and when you're told to surrender and stop but you don't listen then you lose all rights.
So what if a PoS dies the fact they broke the law and refused to comply with the officers speaks for itself
and as such their life isn't worth the officer potentially throwing theirs away.
They have a family, friends and a life of their own and IF YOU THREATEN THAT LIKE HELL they are going to sit there and not defend themselves.
The police are worth more than the trash they have to take in that puts them in harms way by pulling a weapon on them.
We aren't in sadi arabia or some other backwater third world country. Most of the civilized world runs off laws because people
in general can't be expected to behave themselves.
Treat others the way you wish to be treated. To bad this saying and meaning has been lost by so many...

I, being canadian, only half agree. I believe all lives matter and using lethal force is only the absolute last resort, or when the situation calls for such force such as extreme hostage situations, high end drug raid(cartel, not some small crack house), weapon smuggling raid, ect. I personally don't believe your average street cop should even be allowed any type of lethal force weapon.
And then the two-bit druggie pulls out a gun and shoots the cop dead because the cop wasn't permitted to carry lethal force...
Let's just look about what has happened so far this year, shall we? from here, you see that of the eleven 'line of duty' casualties, nine of them were due to gunfire.
There's an old saying about not taking a knife into a gunfight.
I certainly understand your perspective. I also consider life to be sacred, and lethal force used only as a last resort. However, it *MUST* be available AS a last resort, because criminals sure as hell don't feel the same way.

Personally, I feel that everyone should be required to go through a mandatory gun safety course as a part of their high school training. Not necessarily marksmanship, that's up to the individual, but we're talking about things like trigger discipline, muzzle courtesy, proper storage and maintenance... that kind of thing. Above and beyond possibly reducing the number of idiots who slag themselves the first time they get their hands on a firearm, it also introduces firearms to the general public in a non-threatening manner. It shows that a firearm is not something to be feared. Respected, surely, just as any other piece of equipment, but not feared.
Once the fear-from-ignorance starts to go away, so will a lot of idiocies revolving around firearms.
The ROE are designed by REMF as a political tool to show how 'civilized' we can be in war. Which is at least two outright oxymorons and an 'unknown but significant number' of facepalms.

I cannot agree with this more. I personally grew up around firearms my whole life, I even own a couple as well, and not once, has a firearm harmed anyone in my family, all of which are either hunters or former military, all of which have grown up around firearms. We all know how dangerous a firearm can be if not handled with care, because we were taught that stuff from day one.
I only wish that some day, every single person will be able to grow up with the proper knowledge on how to properly handle a firearm, whether it be a .22 hunting rifle or a .306 assault rifle.

That average street cop also keeps you protected from the drug dealers and delinquents who think they are above the law and the world in general.
Laws are in place for a reason and despite some of them being just stupid taking guns out of law enforcement is just as bad as the retarded rules of engagement troops have to deal with saying they can only return fire even if the enemy was shooting at them the other day.

Well there is such a thing as being too widely spread. Having all officers at similar body mass means it's easier to standardize things like equipment, uniforms, even furniture (remember the scene where Longhorn reluctantly fistbumps Hopps and we see just how freaking small Hopps is compared to everyone else?) If all their gear is standardized it means it's easier to design and easier to keep stocked in bulk. Plus what Hopps gains in speed and stealth she loses in intimidation, which also has to be factored in.
All of this is true, but if you take a look at the sizes in the room, the elephant compared to the wolves is about the same size difference as the wolves compared to Judy. I was thinking one of the factors why Bogo might be so annyoed (and why this might genereally be a back-firing publicity stunt) is that they likely had to craft a whole set of new gear specifically to fit Judy's body size.
On the intimidation value; sure, but remember that Judy is just small when compared to someone like Bogo, there's plenty of creatures smaller than Hopps out there and this is also an aspect where she can probably provide good coverage. If we were to move out of the PG area of the movie, you'd likely see the prejudice against different species going in a lot more aspects and probably have some reasoning to it too - if all the cops are the size of wolves, rodents and the like will have an easy time slipping through cracks and nichés in a chase, practically predestining them to petty criminal activity.

True, plus Bogo's personality in some clips seems to be the kind of person that doesn't believe in giving anyone a free ride.
Valid points but at the same time, continuing the logistical headaches, one of the problems with over-diversification in a furry setting is you have to keep track of what everyone's capable of, especially if fate is cute and throws in ironic names like Mr. Biggs.

I am reminded again how much more furries adapted stuff to fit furry characters. The closest to this was an illustration in the 'After the Bomb' RPG with an illustration of a normal-sized mouse using a small pipe to fire normal bullets like a bazooka.
This is even better. Now she can shoot darts that also affects larger people with thicker skins, like rhinos or elefants. Her dars are probably the same size likie her larger colleagues usually use. And it should work better than more lethal ammo, because the darts have less recoil.
And while I mention it last, I hope you are aware that your art is not the least reason to like this picture.

XD Yeah, there's many instances of those sort of things, or universes where you can apply such logic.
Considering the kiddie universe, I'm pretty sure ZPD doesn't have lethal weapons ... or if they do, they're something of a taboo subject. I'm fairly certain the darts are uni-size and interchangable between officers weapons. There's probably some kind of revolver variant for the larger officers.
I would hope so <3 I'm glad you enjoy it in any case, whether for the art or the subject.

It´ great how you remained loyal to the settings, as it´s (seeminly) pressure gas operated, and I see some featering there, a very similar to tranquilizer gun. I bought Zootropolis: Essential Guide, along other things, and Judy is holding a Tazer pistol, which I see as a major error, she also has green eyes. Willing to show photo, if you´d be interested. Good piece, you have become my favorite Zootopia fanartwork artist, I hope we´ll see at least some more pieces from you, in the future. :)
Awwwww, very flattered sir, thank you ^^ there will most certainly be more of Judy and Nick in the future
Sure, I'll gladly take a look, so long as it's not spoilering. Just PM me here :3 I'm avoiding any more source material until I can finally go see the movie, but I'll likely have a few shopping trips to make once I get to do that X3
And yes, I did do my best to stay within the canon of Zootopia. It's really just supposed to be an air-powered revolver fitted to be fire by someone Judy's size X3 as for her holding a tazer gun; pretty sure that's not all out there, seeing as the wolves in the trailer seemed to be armed with the same.

Sure Sure, I have to agree on that argument with wolves in the laser scene.
Still, here is official green-eyed Judy from Zootopia Handbook. >>> http://i.imgur.com/WTMvcyv.jpg <<< , Spoiler free screen from the book.
I wholeheartly advice you to get Art of Zootopia and Essential Guide, after the movie, even Handbook. There are great reference pictures, some are so detailed they even show surface material of their armor vests of clothing. Disney Infinity figures are splendid as well, much better than any trash from disney store, also just 10€ (In Slovakia).
Be sure to properly inspect the figures, if you decide to buy them, there is high error rate in them(spots on eyes, unproperly cleaned plastic corners.)

I think Judy would do well in SWAT. She'd be VERY hard target for the opposing element to hit. She could do things like slip into air ducts and drop flashbangs without revealing the position of the rest of the squad. All kinds of advantages for her small size and big determination come into mind. ^^
Need to get up high? Chuck her onto the roof. Need to chase a smaller suspect through Little Rodentia without destroying five city blocks? Send the rabbit. Need someone non-threatening to explain safety to kindergarten sheep, maybe a well built but cynical wolf was not the best direction you could go. I think in time they would probably get the idea of her tactical advantage.
So here's the strategy; You load her into this capsule, you give her a gas mask, You use a mortar or something to launch her into the danger zone, the capsule emits tear gas, then Hopps pops out of the capsule dressed and armed as we see her here. She darts all of the perps before the rest of the squad can safely move in.
Zootopia seems to have a one-size-fits-all approach to police work. Don't seem to be any separate departments with any additional training -- "Officer" covers everything as high as "Detective" and as low as "Meter Maid."
Why do I mention this? Because, for all we know, this could be wholly plausible, not just in the sequel, but right now.
Chief Bogo: "Alright, you all watch the news, we all know damn well what all of our assignments are today -- SUIT UP PEOPLE!!!"

Yeah, I noticed that too and I'm pretty sure that's actually the case.
Bogo just assigned three officers to SWAT, which in its own name already carries "Special" which would denote you'd need special training. Investigations and Undercover work seems to be handled by just about every officer aswell, so it seems all officers are trained in all "disciplines".
So I figure every ZPD officer has the potential to be assigned to any job that's currently available and Bogo decides the different assignments based on what he knows of their performance in different aspects of the job. That's how I created my Zootopia themed characters anyway X3

Either that or the 1st precinct is so tough-as-nails that it's pretty much a given that anyone without those qualifications wouldn't be there at all.
When Judy gets assigned to parking duty and she starts to say she was top of her class, I kept waiting for Bogo or another to respond "Yeah, big whoop, so was everyone."

Having seen Zootopia and knowing how small Judy is compared to some of the other ZPD Officers like Chief Bogo or Officer McHorn her gun may look like a grenade launcher but for others its a dart gun. XD Remember that scene from Men in Black where J gets his "tiny" gun? Just like this.
Besides: It really COULD be a grenade launcher for anti-night howler gas grenades or something. XD
