I was thinking about the Ultra Beasts, and thought “if they’re Pokemon from another dimension, I wonder if they have evolutions/pre-evolutions that we never got to see due to being unable to evolve or breed them?”. So I designed an evolution family for Nihilego.
The first one is Nilid (nil + id). I really hadn't planned on making a pre-evolution for Nihilego at first, but then I went ahead with it anyway. Nilid’s designed to resemble a tiny jellyfish/octopus hybrid and is loosely Metroid-inspired. For the final stage, Noncience (non + conscience), I couldn’t have gone with any other design but the ‘mother beast’ Nihilego from Pokemon Sun & Moon’s story.
Thinking of how they’d evolve was difficult, but I ended up with the idea that we couldn’t see Nilid due to the only Nihilego in-game being too high level to still be Nilids. As for Noncience, I decided that it could only evolve in Ultra Space, allowing an explanation of how the capturable Nihilego could be so high level and yet not evolve. Keeping with the trend Ultra Beasts share with moves, I had to make their evolution levels prime numbers.

MIIIINOR oversight i spot that i feel i should point out ^^; the nihilego you fight in the aether foundation on your first visit there is level 27 just thought id let you know ^^;
i really kinda wish you did actually fight lusamine in that form proper but its understandable why you dont (plus since thatd technically make her a pokemon as far as the code is considered just imagine the battles that could happen by hacking her into the party xD)

Wait what? Isn't it lv30? (Double checked and you're right, I'll edit this to fix it in a sec)
And yeah, I can see why they wouldn't have you fight Lusamine directly, using Pokemon attacks on a human is something they never let you do (the only non-villain I recall ever doing it was Lance on a Rocket Grunt, and even then it was rather brutal for Lance). I'd have said that she should've had a Nihilego in her party, but the one she did catch is the one she fused with. :P

its fine just glad i seemingly helped xD;
also TECHNICALLY you wouldnt be attacking the human since shes very much covered and protected by the nihilego
tho it was cool at least that her team focused on the 5 stats and all had an aura about them (and even a unique model where there eyes looked half lidded like they too was being effected by nihilego)

I think they make that face they make is when they perform a Z-Move too
And turns out in concept art it shows why Nihilego went all big after fusing with Lusimine was due to using the Z-Crystals she had on her person, which might be why there is those "eyes" or something on its tentacles
