Oh my... such an intimate image. Let's unpack this for a bit.
First off, we look at the hands. The double handclasp is very traditional in 'handfasting' rituals. Typically, the chord is then wrapped around the hands, signifying the bond that the two share.
Then we look up to the collars and the leash between them. I've seen more than a few 'wow, that's kinky' and pondering about who is the 'dom' in this situation, but these are the wrong questions to be asking here. If this was a collaring, in a Dom/sub relationship, the sub would be kneeling, or otherwise in a submissive pose. That's not happening here. Please note that despite Vix being shorter than Fen, their necks are exactly in line with each other. Fen is probably having to bend slightly at the knees to ensure this effect, which means it is certainly a deliberate one, and another underscoring of equal partners on equal footing and equal height. This is a bond of partnership, of equals, where each one respects the other's place and position and will see to each other's needs.
More importantly, it implies clear and open lines of communication. The throat has always been a symbol of speech and communication, and this 'tie that binds' to use the christian term, links them together directly. This underscores the subtext of equal partners and open communication, talking to each other and making decisions together as a team.
From this, we can infer that the collars function in society much like wedding rings do in our own... a symbol of a permanent relationship between two (or perhaps more) individuals, and that both will be wearing their collars not as a sign of submissiveness but as a sign of 'I'm already in a permanent relationship, so please inquire before making forward passes'. Therefore, the 'mainstream' cultural implication of a collar in general is very different from what we would think of in our society.
Of course, Vix tends to be more submissive and Fen tends to be more dominant, sexually, and I'm sure they will make sure those needs are... ahem, sorry but the pun is inevitable... filled. However, that D/s play is just that... it is bedroom play, not a lifestyle to be lived day in and day out. They may later take it to that level, or not, as they see fit. But as it stands right now, there is no D/s symbology going on here, this is a rite of mutual love and respect between equals who are now joined as partners for their journey through life.
I... could go further into healthy D/s relationship dynamics, but in this audience, those who might be interested probably already know, and the rest are probably just wanting to hurry up to the next fappable scene. Suffice to say, boundaries are important in alternate lifestyle choices, and communication is exponentially more important, as there are fewer 'default' options.

If it makes you feel any better I inferred much the same as above. I was backing up and making sure I had not missed anything and my breath caught. I couldn't wait to see the wedding, but the intimacy in a non porny way stunk like an arrow into me. I have been in both ill and good relationships and this alone hints at a great one. I want so much to learn more about the traditions. And now in my own head wonder if corvids/bovids etc would have similar but different wedding rituals much like how social marriages now can differ soo I adore this in all its intent.
