I looked into this a little further than I probably should have. The word "rewind" was used all the way back in the 1700's to mean "to wind a clock back up." If there weren't recordings in Feretta's world then Fen could mean, "we're not done talking. Wind this conversation back up." I'm sure clocks are tech they have and we've probably seen in the background. I'd have to look to find out.

My take is that every so often, the sphere Alfred put around the Vitrin core fails enough to allow some Vitrin to leak out and... well... munch. So they have to yank everyone back to PATH and rebuild.

Technically, the sphere was named after him. His full name is Baelin Vitrin (chapter 5, page 35, 2nd panel), though I acknowledge that possibly that this ‘Vitrin Gate’ has more to do with the sphere than its creator. It would be cool though if he or his possessed form did show up again.
