Ope! There goes rabbit, he choked!
He's so mad but he won't give up that easy? No!
He won't have it, he knows his whole back's to these ropes
It don't matter, he's dope, he knows that, but he's broke
He's so stagnant, he knows, when he goes back to this mobile home, that's when it's
Back to the lab again, yo, this whole rhapsody
Better go capture this moment and hope it don't pass him

That chunk isn't the part still attached to the core. It is just a lost chunk at this point and the present-day world that we are left with is in the 10th age, this event happened at what was the end of the second age starting the third age. There is still a lot of chunks left to lose before we get to the world as we know it.
As her interactions with Lars Goes on, I've now started to imagine Lars sounding like Ben Stein.
If he can summarize it, I'd honestly be surprised. But I'm imagining it being more of a wall of text sounding like the micro-machines guy.
One thing I do wonder is if Lars is sneaking in lessons catching her up on things in her subconscious while her conscious mind is busy absorbing all this history? Would Alfred be sneaky and underhanded enough to give Fenfen a university education behind his daughters back?

Sweet gods... It's entirely possible, just from this, for this fragment of a world to be the last chunk of baryonic matter in the entire Local Group or further... OK, I think Fenfen isn't the only one feeling more than a bit overwhelmed by things. And here I thought the Xeelee Sequence by Stephen Baxter had some really rough stuff in it.
