Molokai, the Igneous Dragon
With a stature beffiting of a true lava titan and a ferocious appearance, Molokai (Mo-Lo-Kay) embodies the awe-inspiring and destructive elements associated with volcanoes. Fierce heat, convoluted ashclouds and explosions that rupture the heavens are all encapsulated in his brutal looking design. Together, both Molokai and Maui have complete mastery over the forces of volcanism.
---
His abilities reflect that power:
Molokai's scales are as tough as a hardened black granite, protected by a glossy obsidian shell. Birthed in flames, Molokai sheds his scales in a bath of lava, those same conditions prompting the recrystallization of new scales. Although hardy, if you do manage to wound him, his molten blood rapidly cools and crystallises as it escapes his body, serving to clot the wound of course thats not the only fluid that's hot.
- When compared to dragonfire, Molokai's molten magma breath burns hotter, and without the need for gasseous ignition. The viscous conduit has a consistency of napalm and can cling to whatever it touches; the land below is gouged out, and anything that can burn is set ablaze from the searing heat.
- Unsurprisingly, with mastery of the Earth's interior, Molokai is immune to extreme heat and more often than not his form is obscured by the cloak of an ash-storm, indeed much like the Balrog's smoke from LoTR, fitting given his avatar is of similar size.
- That's not the only substance thats different. When pent-up a dominant bisexual magma dragon erupts, it unleashes a torrent of warm seed; gloopy with the consistency of lava, but at a pleasant temperature. Lastly, for those of you wondering what he smells like, expect a smokey musk.
---
Those that wish to commune with the avatar of Molokai can find him beneath the island that bears his namesake. Occupying a lair that's concealed within a labyrinth of ancient lava tubes, its walls are adorned with countless murals and totems collected from civilisations and offered in both reverence and tribute; they depict the masculine volcano dieties from cultures worldwide; Gugurung, Mafuiʻe, Rūaumoko, Vulcan etc.
Appeasing him is not a bad thing; it is said that when angered, the beast will descend into the heart of the Earth and travel the world from within. Swimming through liquid rock as if it were mere water, his movements quake the land above. When he emerges again, the extent of his true power is unleashed through a striking metamorphosis, revealing the elder dragon's form, his newfound size and blight rivalling that of those in Guild Wars 2. Lightning cracks the darkening sky as Molokai drags his blight overhead; an incessant fallout cloud that blocks out the sun, raining down volcanic bombs and smothering all beneath with a thick blanket of ash.
Understandably, not everyone is so reverent; fearing the tales of doomed civilisations, many brave souls have marched upon mountains over the course of centuries, amassing in an attempt to slay or imprison his avatar... only to find that the heart of the Earth and its ideals cannot be so easily destroyed. Imprisoning him will only delay the inevitable.
