Slang terms have always come in and out of vogue though, this has happened long before Twitter existed. It doesn't necessarily mean that they lose their meaning, even if the overuse of them can be annoying.

I wasn't taking about words falling out of use, I was just talking about the ones that are used so often in such a wide variety of situations that they lose their meaning before they even die out. I say Twitter specifically because that's where I see this happening the most, or from people who very actively use Twitter. That platform tends to give the same treatment to memes as well, like the "post the most random picture of yourself" trend where a majority of the responses I saw were just regular-ass selfies.

Yeaaaah, that "conversation" was pretty cringe. I can't remember offhand whose journal it was, but this absolute duncewaffle was tossing it around at anyone who disagreed with them, then blocking them.
