Regarding offense in some of my art/characters
4 years ago
General
It's come to my attention that several creators have blocked me. At first I assumed they just found my art strange and shrugged it off but I've since recieved some messages stating why they blocked me.
Now this is their right, they're not forced to interact with or care about me in any way.
However, the reason I've been given by some was due to some of the slitplay and docking art I've drawn, in particular of one of my own characters and I've recieved some pretty shitty messages because they assumed that I was drawing characters in a way that could be described by a slur used against trans men.
The character in question is a cis male with a sheath.
I'd like to get these rumors out the door, I don't like the concept of, the use of the term as a descriptor, or being called the C-boy slur.
Not for me, my characters or any trans person I know. It's offensive to be called that as a transgender man, which I am.
What I draw is strictly limited to expressing my interests in slitplay and docking, and the fact that I have to clarify even though I've added it to multiple submissions as a footnote is honestly depressing.
People can block me if they like, I have no say about that, but to force me out of a space I'm a part of for a reason that is based on misunderstanding and to accuse me of drawing a representation of a slur that has harmed me as well is honestly incredibly ignorant.
I just felt the need to clarify, I don't intend to harm people but I also want to express what I like in my work and the continuous judgement is getting quite exhausting.
Thanks for hearing me out, and for your support. I know this is not my usual journal update but I felt like I needed to clear things up.

And then, when there's no course of defense for the original subject, they take their own narrative and run with it.
This is the gatekeeping community at it's prime, thinking themselves morally superior by virtue of having something to lord over others. They need to burn, and they need to burn now.
I don't like conflict, I don't intend to offend and I'd like people to tell me if I do so I can fix it but this was taken way out of context and apparently it's been doing the rounds amongst some artists I thought were cool.
recently i've been jokingly saying that slits = trans rights, but its true, it really is
If this persists I'll just close my notes and take commissions through Email or forms.
Far too many times I've argued the intent behind something only for others to try to tell me what I was -really- doing.
While I understand you don't like conflict, this is invariably the struggles we as individuals with more than two brain cells have to contend with on an online platform. People can say whatever they want; and the more you argue against it, the more they think they're right.
Clearly, the people who are "Cool" clearly aren't, if they can't even figure out how to communicate and ask basic questions.
I'll just turn off notes if it keeps going.
Adding more work to do on your art sounds like it will merely take up more of your own time, rather than prevent potential future mishaps.
I get the frustration and the defensiveness, I really do, but this was taken way out of context.
I agree, though I want to show I have no ill intent.
Honestly the whole slitplay/docking art has given me enough salt in my inbox to fill a house with. I had a guy start a shitfit in telegram art chats to try and get me banned when I first started drawing and posting it.
But vore/gore is fine, duh, of course.
Whatever people draw should be their own business, whatever I draw should be mine as well. Apparently it's hard to just ignore something you don't like.
I just find it frustrating to be on blocklists and have people paint me as problematic behind my back for something as stupidly ignorant as this.
There's so much infighting within the community.
So tired of people being offended over something they don't even belong to or have no knowledge about.
My god why do people still try to judge others, what is wrong with them -3-
Everyone likes what someone likes, there's nothing wrong with it, if you don't want to be called stuff, there is always another term, and that needs to be respected
But the judging of other because they themselves don't get it....makes me want to hit my head because this is stupid
I'm sorry you need to go through this
dont get yourself dragged down by this tho, there are always some that are like this, but there are also the better ones!
Thanks, I appreciate the support!
So what would happen if you drew someone who was overall masculine but had feminine anatomy only? Is that... not allowed, now?
Because if it's not allowed, then isn't that prejudicial itself? That'd be like saying, "oh, there exist slurs against humans with dark skin, so therefore humans with dark skin aren't allowed anymore" and that would be - uh, that would be pretty stunningly dumb and controversial.
Am I misunderstanding?
For what it's worth (5 days after you posted it...) you've always been one of the more conscientious and careful people I've known, Light! I'm really sorry for that hassle.
That statement I made it so can somewhat understand where they're coming from.
Fetishizing trans characters while not having lived a trans experience can cause for harmful objectification of trans bodies but that would be if the characters I drew in that art were actually trans to begin with and if I were a cis person, both of which aren't the case so that whole argument just breaks down on itself.
Also if I did draw trans characters I'd think it'd be my own damn choice to represent a bodytype I have in a way that makes me feel validated and good about it so they can piss off, it's blatant ignorance at best and gatekeeping at worst.
This kind of selfrighteous crusading often comes from people that speak for a group without properly representing that group.
If I speak of trans experience it is and always will be solely my own because I don't know what other trans people go through in their life, life is too individual to do that, but I know we have a commonality in being at the bottom of the barrel if it comes to society giving a shit and I never understand why we're always fighting amongst ourselves so much to prove who is or isn't a "real transgender" because the only person that knows that is the person themselves and we don't get to define that for them.
Thank you for your words, I've had some time to sit on this situation and have a think over it, I'm just bummed out some people that drew work I highly respected blocked my ass just because of rumors based on false assumptions about what's in my fucking pants.
