Last week I reached 10,000 followers on Twitter! ✨

I’m so happy and humbled that there are so many people around who enjoy the drawings I make, and I’m grateful to everyone who’s supported me in getting as far as I have in trying to make this my full-time work. :3

When I hit 9K around June of this year, I decided to make it a goal for myself to hit 10K before the end of the year. I’m really proud I was able to reach that goal, and it feels like a wonderful endnote to my first year doing freelance commissioned art as my primary source of income!

I actually turned it into a little bit of a challenge, and decided I would not upload any art I had commissioned or received from anyone else until I reached 10K, so that I could say I climbed the last stretch of that mountain on the merits of my own art alone. I ended up breaking my rule twice when I did some trades with an artist friend and a writer friend, so that I could credit them for their lovely halves of the trades. Whoops! But I otherwise stuck to the rule, and considering I reached my goal 2 months early I’m going to call that good enough. ;3

10K has been a number I’d had in mind for a long time. Around the time I first started posting my art, all of my favourite furry artists and commissioners were sitting at around that number so it seemed like a massive, unreachable milestone. With the fall of Tumblr and Twitter’s growth over the past few years, the follower economy has changed and 10K isn’t quiteeeeee as huge of an accomplishment as it used to be (those 10K artists I mentioned are now mostly sitting closer to 20K or more), but it’s still something I’m very proud of having achieved. :3
